After I had tested the "Big Boys" and cult hits of Lush all extensively and quite positively, I gave the brand hardly any attention. Wrong of me, because over the years but still some very interesting newcomers have come. "Pansy" is one of these and a very elegant, fresh and buttery orange blossom dream.
At the Parfumotreffen in Düsseldorf last month it was brought by a nice perfumer and somehow got stuck in my head, which is compliment enough for the fragrance after such an overkill day. Now I was able to buy it and test it more extensively - and it holds up to that "love at first sniff". While not a gamechanger, it's a price/performance winner. And a damn nice scent to boot, of course. Sunny, patch-without-a-patch feel, Palermo meets Paris. Fruity notes make it seem even juicier and yummier. Minimally more feminine perhaps. Woodsy, grassy, clean. But not pure, not entirely sinless. Lush is a good fit here. Fat bonus points for the brand's stance on animal testing. Slightly powdery, definitely chic, also floral without even a hint of bagginess or old-fashionedness. Barbershop for natural barbies. Reminiscent of Harry Lehmann's "Boston" paired with creaminess. Modern hippies. Fashion show all casual and unpretentious.
Flacon: niche minimalism at half the designer price
Sillage: pleasantly mild
Durability: solid 5-7 hours
Verdict: Exit Through The Gift Shop - a creamy greenling between understatement, art and banger. Pleasant in perfume union
