Crème d'Nude M∙A∙C 2016

Prada Candy + blonde suede + Molecule 01. It's unlike anything else I have, and something I definitely pull primarily for cozy 'snuggle' activities. No one else can smell it on me unless they are *close* but it is the softest most angelic suede ever - and for that reason alone, it's a great part of my collection. It's not heavy in any way, and I love it.

Just like Velvet Teddy, I think this is a gem, but not worth a crazy resale price.

This is wonderful, a soft leathery musk with added sweetness from a vanillic ambrette seed. Starts off like the inside of a soft handbag, moves into the powdery quality of a freshly washed scalp and dries down to a sweet warm skin musk, like the scent of a woman lounging in bed. Really attractive and sensual scent.

I became aware of this fragrance here. Here at "New and Noteworthy." What? MAC makes fragrances? Since when?? Okay? Let’s take a look... Hm... Creme d'nude... sounds so cozy... (Editor’s note: At that time, I had a "nude kick"; everything with "nude" had to be tested). Oh, skin accord, just like my beloved Lacoste pour femme, that can only be good. I like musk anyway... Oh yes, it MUST be tested. The problem was, at that time the launch was still a long way off. Through what felt like an eternity to me, I somewhat got over the fragrance and lost sight of it.

At the beginning of April, my friend asked me if I could go to the perfume store with her and help her with her fragrance selection. Who would I be to refuse that, so please... We were browsing, spraying, and testing with the help of the saleswoman when suddenly I had a very fine scent in my nose. That was definitely not what we had sprayed. Where is that coming from? I couldn’t locate it and couldn’t even guess what it was, as I hadn’t had anything like it in mind (fragrance-wise) until then. After long consideration of where the scent was coming from and especially which fragrance it could be, the saleswoman leaned over me to grab a bottle from the shelf, and then I knew. SHE was the source. Of course, I had to ask which perfume it was, and she said "Creme d'nude." Suddenly, everything came rushing back. The fragrance pyramid (which is basically not one), MAC, and the bottle with its skin color.

Let’s go! We need to go to MAC right now! Don’t ask, just come with me! My bewildered friend follows me, which was not so easy with my brisk pace, and there it is, my future new signature scent! I sprayed it on, and from that moment on, my restless search for THE fragrance came to an end. I actually found it!

A delicate vanilla cloud envelops me. Vanilla is not listed; I think the mix of amber and musk gives it a vanilla scent. But it doesn’t stop there. The skin accord subtly shines through again and again, giving the fragrance a beautiful cozy-warm touch. It doesn’t undergo a significant development anymore, as there are no top, base, and heart notes. Unfortunately, one of my problems is that I can’t perceive the scent very quickly anymore, while my surroundings can, and the opinions are full of praise. I was also told that you can smell I was there, so I assume the sillage is a bit stronger (whoops... :D) On clothing, however, I can still/perceive Creme d'nude the next day.

Creme d'nude is my soul comforter on days when things aren’t going well, my cozy companion when it’s uncomfortable outside, my sleep aid on sleepless nights, when I’m in a good mood, Creme d'nude emphasizes that; simply my fragrance for all occasions. We searched for each other and found each other.

Hello and welcome to a new fragrance commentary from me. Today, it's about the scent "Crème d‘Nude" by MAC. Well... as soon as something has to do with "nude," meaning nudity, I'm immediately here, but you probably guessed that already, right?... Yes, yes, it was only a matter of time before I would write a comment about this scent here :D

But okay, why crème and nudity? Well, I have no idea. But you do apply creams on bare skin, sometimes even in intimate areas (depending on the situation)... and especially you ladies really slather that stuff EVERYWHERE, right? I mean, okay, right now during the Corona time, people are washing their hands more, so hands are drier and one uses more creams than usual, at least that's the case for me. But you ladies were using a whole jar of Nivea (or other brands) daily even before the pandemic, phew! Nothing is left out, everything gets creamed from head to toe. And as if that weren't enough, you then walk barefoot with freshly creamed feet all over the apartment, leaving footprints everywhere (especially on laminate floors, etc.)... I mean, you ladies might find that cute, but isn't it kind of gross to constantly see stinky footprints everywhere? Ugh, okay, foot fetishists might enjoy that and their first thought is surely "Oh yes, walk with your creamed feet through my apartment and leave your erotic scent trail"... but... Ugh, noooooooooo, absolutely not!!!!!!!!!.... :DDD

He he, well, I seem to be digressing. Let's get back to the scent. These were inspired by the in-house lipsticks (hmm... nudity and lips... yes, I like that much better! :DD). But since I don't really know much about lipsticks and "Nude" is not just a lipstick but a whole range (is that right? Yes, yes, just laugh! :D), I'd rather talk about my scent impression than embarrass myself completely with my lack of knowledge about cosmetic products... :D

The scent starts off slightly alcoholic, then quickly shifts to a powdery sweetness. At first, it smells faintly of musk, but then you can already perceive an intense caramel note that smells quite authentic and reminds me of those caramel chew candies that you really should only enjoy with healthy teeth or well-made fillings or crowns, as these candies can easily pull out the entire filling of your teeth (or crown), brrr.... Argh, why do these candies have to taste so good? *sigh*
After that, I smell vanilla, so that's probably where the initial powdery note comes from; now it's much more intense, which makes the scent feel so soft. A little later, I can also smell the leather, which at first seemed to me like undefined spices.
Later on, I could smell the vanilla the most; everything else like caramel and especially the leather became weaker and were practically absent in the base. But that's okay, since vanilla is often a nice scent note with its sweet-powdery aroma, the base turned out quite nice, even if it ends up smelling a bit generic.

The sillage is moderate to weak. Much later, the scent even becomes somewhat skin-close.
The longevity is okay; vanilla scents often last quite a long time, and this one was detectable on my skin for more than eight hours.

The bottle is rectangular and consists of three sections. There is the black, opaque base, then comes the milky glass-like and partially transparent part in skin color, as well as the opaque cap, also in skin color. The color scheme is supposed to remind one of the lipsticks that MAC offers. A simple but nicely designed bottle.

Okay, so the naked scent here (he he, I love the term "naked" :D) smells quite nice. It has a pleasant start and fades out with nice vanilla. The problem is that the scent offers almost nothing new and could seem quite simple to those naked perfume lovers (okay, okay, I'm stopping with the nudity talk, I meant "perfume lovers" here... :D) who have already tried quite a few scents. And if they already own several fragrances, then this scent will come across to them just like many, many other scents. Okay, the top note is nice (if you like caramel), but top notes unfortunately never last particularly long, so after a short time, you mostly just smell vanilla.

Despite the vanilla and the longer longevity, the scent is rather moderate in its projection, so in my opinion, it can't really be used for going out but is more suitable for daily wear and also at work, as it doesn't come off as intrusive despite the sweet notes. Therefore, I would also say that it could be used in all seasons (making it one of the few vanilla scents that also work well on warm days, as long as you don't overdo it with the spraying).

Well, that's it from me again. So, I'm going to see what nerdy Star Wars stuff I could do (like looking for new Funko Pop Star Wars figures to collect), and you do what you usually do... either complain with me here or... cream your feet or something.... Baaah! :D

I was once again seduced by parfumos' great reviews and snagged a bottle at the first opportunity. You guys are making me broke!

I don't regret it at all. For me, it is the quintessential millennial scent.
First of all, the bottle fits the brand; I couldn't have imagined it in such a curvy vintage flacon. MAC has chosen a kind of cassette shape in block colors, matching the makeup range.
The scent also fits the theme. After a brief note of alcohol, a creaminess emerges that reminds me of a nude lipstick. It then becomes a bit vanilla, and I can still detect a hint of caramel. However, the creaminess is what stands out for me. Like a lotion applied after showering, clean and soft.
The scent feels almost niche to me, it has something of a concept fragrance.
