Hard to describe, but still not great

I feel like I'm seeing people get into this loop with Marc-Antoine Barrois where they kid themselves into thinking that the synthetic parts of the DNA aren't there. The fact that Ganymede Eau de Parfum ever went as big as it did supports that argument. Subsequently to the release of Ganymede EDP nothing really picked up steam as quickly as Tilia.

My impressions from the opening: it's definitely floral & it definitely has that MAB DNA (which is code for "it smells synthetic"). It doesn't even take 15 seconds for me to figure out that this doesn't smell that far from the Fleur Narcotique Eau de Parfum style fragrance DNA, incl. others like Valaya. The general feel will also be somewhat similar to Blue Talisman, albeit this lacks the fruitiness. In the top there's a hint of spiciness, but that completely dissipates.

As the scent evolves, it gets harder and harder to understand it. In my notes, I wrote down "there's also a bitter cocoa or something like that" which is actually the bizarre feel that the combination of broom and linden blossom are bringing. Broom as a note supposedly evokes orange blossom with a bitter/lime undertone and that's kind-of what I'm getting here. It smells like a cotton blanket being left out in the sun next to an orange tree. The linden blossom brings an abnormal feel that simultaneously smells like cardboard & freshly laundered sheets.

The floral-fresh-synthetic accords lead the way for a scent that has a considerable amount of creaminess with some supporting accords (sweet, spicy). Performance is weaker relative to everything else I've smelled from the house in this concentration, but it's nothing insufficient. Value is fine, uniqueness is "ehh" - it's a derivative play on arguably one of the hottest women's profiles in the market currently, but there is enough here to make it stand out from its competition. The only question is whether those twists & turns (incl. the €195/100ml retail being less than most competitors) warrant your money.
