Of chemical clubs and second chances
I tend to belong to the faction that likes to overspray times. With light, floral fragrances, that's no problem. The one hour drive to work is enough to make the fragrance cloud disappear adequately and at the latest at work I am olfactory socially compatible.
I could not escape the new trend of clean-woman-softener-better-that-your-skin and so I tested some new releases and some forerunners of the trend. All common here is also the light, unobtrusive character, true Understatementdüfte!
So I suspected also with Valaya. Fortunately, I tested the fragrance on a weekend. 3 sprays loosely fluffy distributed around the neck and the misery began. This pungent fragrance cloud stuck the whole day and another day in addition to me as it can otherwise only coarse oud criminal scents. Worse still, the whole fragrance is a synthetic mixture high 10! From the whole white peaches and what there is still so everything beautiful in the fragrance pyramid read, no trace. The fragrance was exhausting, headache-inducing, just way too much.

So now I had burned my fingers to Valaya. The bottling wandered far away in the corner. I had the nose full. Actually, I wanted to sell the filling, give away, just get rid of. After some time, the oats stung me and I wanted to sniff again. This time it was only a very small spray on the back of the hand. And what can I say? The scent was still very potent, but nowhere near as aggressive as before. The bad stinging was absent - rather, the scent unfolded in the direction of bright, radiant, fresh-clean. Fruity is not the fragrance, nor is it creamy or milky or fluffy. The scent is also not inviting, it keeps the smeller somewhat at a distance. If you get too close with your nose, it becomes pungent. The sillage, however, is bright, clear, radiant. Almost a little cold.

So I tested Valaya further with proper measure to caution and what can I say? Me convinces the fragrance in the meantime. If you break down this clean trend to the essentials, you actually arrive at Valaya. Fragrance components are hardly to smell out for me in the chemical mixture. The fragrance does what it is supposed to do, it leaves the wearer smelling brightly clean and fresh all day long. No more, no less. The scent seems a bit unapproachable, it is not inviting, not soft and not delicate. Perfectly suited if you want to put down a tidy, professional and focused appearance.
Fittingly, the bottle is a dream of milk white glass. Certainly one of the most beautiful bottles of this brand!

Conclusion
Enjoyed with caution a beautiful fragrance. In my opinion, he meets the zeitgeist exactly on the head. However, you have to be able to endure strongly synthetic fragrances if you want to test the fragrance. Valaya certainly does not belong to the fraction of soft-fluffy musky fragrances. Anyone looking for something like that will be disappointed here. The scent is clear, cold, clean. I can only say for my part that you should test the fragrance several times. I am glad that I have not been deterred by the first impression.

PS: I have corrected the rating upwards.

Can anyone hold out longer?
Fragrances from De Marly were the first niche fragrances I ever smelled and tested.
Delina Exclusif was my fragrance for a long time, but at some point I could no longer identify with it.

When I saw last year that there was a new De Marly, I was of course still curious.

I immediately ordered a bottling.
When it finally arrived, however, I didn't want to test it straight away but wait for a certain moment.

In the meantime, I read reviews and watched videos about the fragrance, which were mostly disappointing!
Had the feeling that many did not like it.

April 2023
It was a really nice day, the sun was shining, it wasn't too cold and not too warm, just perfect for a long walk with my dog.

I put on my new freshly laundered hoodie and sprayed on Valaya without any thoughts or requirements about the scent even though I was so curious.

Valaya
Is my personal dream
It is me, my fragrance, it fulfills all my requirements.

Valaya smells of well-being, of joy, of security. Fresh warmth
Citrusy at the beginning but it doesn't stay that way you have to give the fragrance time to really smell it.
I find it difficult to describe.

The durability... is incredible and I have never experienced anything like it

I only wore my hoodie once and then it stayed in the closet
Just as I only used the bottling once on the day in question, it smelled for weeks! For months after Valaya!
for 3 months I could clearly smell the fragrance when I opened my closet and also on the hoodie of course

I love Valaya and I think it's very different from all the other De Marlys.

Pure beauty

Love at second sight
When Delina Eau de Parfum became popular, I thought to myself: I absolutely must test the perfume. Unfortunately, we became with Delina no friends, for me too prickly, too penetrating, all too much.

Then came the new Valaya fragrance. According to the description, it is exactly the fragrance I am looking for. A bottling was ordered.
When the bottling came and I first sprayed on the paper strip, I was totally disappointed. It smelled very pungent and artificial and my hope was at an end, the search was for me again failed. I threw away the paper strip.
After an hour, I gave the perfume a second chance and was enchanted by the magical fairy scent.
What smells here so beautiful white flowers, peach, the freshness and lightness? Is it about the fairies waiting for me in the flower garden? That was Valaya.

Sprayed on my skin, I was surprised how how the perfume evolves. There is still the synthetic note that is felt at the very beginning but after a short while it transforms into the 'fresh wash' direction. The florals, peach and tangerine outweigh the synthetics for me. It is a light fragrance, wearable for me in any season during the day.
When I want to have a good mood and a smile on my face, I reach for the bottling.

I would have given the fragrance a full 100 points. The fragrance itself is enchantingly beautiful, not intrusive, the durability in Parfums de Marly fragrances is incredible, they keep a day long if you spray on once a day. Clearly if someone wants to have the fragrance even more intense, re-spray. If here only not the proud price would be...
I will get me Valaya with one eye squeezed (because of the price).

It is worth a second time to test and give the perfume a chance.

Elegant, floral, fresh and feminine
Available since 2023 in a beautiful white glass bottle. The nose behind it is Quentin Bisch.
Often compared to the scent of fresh cotton, experienced cotton noses may disagree. You may feel this if you have otherwise had little contact with the cotton-like category. Fresh yes, but at the same time present and with oomph. Cocoon like, elegant and sensual. A white fragrance. The intention behind this creation was to develop an intimate fragrance, my translation for intimate is close to the skin, Valaya is not that. Valaya is also meant to represent fresh air and mindfulness. Its delicate and pure formula is meant to evoke a woman's skin in all its beauty.
White, transparent fabric and soft light express a femininity that is timeless. The enduring sensuality...could also be a bridal fragrance. Most perfect in spring and summer, the musk lends elegance, the fragrance radiates. There are very few fragrances that smell of white peach without smelling too girly, too fruit juice-like or too cheap. The bottle fits the fragrance perfectly and the fragrance in turn fits women who stand for their own femininity, I can hardly imagine a rocker bride smelling like Valaya. More like Cate Blanchett 10 years ago. The fragrance starts out fruity, fresh and extremely elegant, becoming less fruity in the dry down, but even more elegant. There is a certain similarity to Bergamundi, the notes are also similar, Valaya is more feminine and creamy, the freshness is common to both.
Valaya is freshness and lightness, a good mood fragrance.
Be sure to test it on the skin, the fragrance is completely different on the paper strip and hardly develops at all. The longevity is typical of de Marly and excellent! Otherwise you only know this kind of longevity from the oud clubs, and you can smell oud at 100 meters on the train, mainly on southern men. For me, oud is exhausting, loud and not socially compatible, but I digress.
For a de Marly, Valaya is almost an understatement, a very successful one. A fruity freshness, round, coherent. The fragrance is often accused of having a synthetic note - I can smell it on the paper, but not on the skin. A pleasant fragrance without drifting into fruity cocktail triviality. Feminine, elegant and carefree, initially slightly floral, with woody accords in the finish. White oversized blouse, no shirt borrowed from a friend, just a soft blouse, iced matcha in hand and a relaxed stroll through the city. Some compare the fragrance to expensive fabric softener. The fragrance provides no surprises, a safe bet.
Yes, I would buy the fragrance again, but not for this price.

Fairytopia
I have to say, I'm not a fan of such highly hyped perfume houses. The price alone makes me gulp. With so much praise, my disappointment is usually all the greater when the perfume only smells mediocre. Unfortunately, this was the case with some perfumes from this house. So much for Parfums de Marly.

But Valaya can score points with me. It starts with very fruity, yet light notes. At first, you have no idea that it can become even lighter and more dignified. The peach is the initial star and opens the show. Cool and not very sweet. Just my thing. However, the middle part is really exciting. Valaya transforms into a fine, luxurious body lotion. Reminds me of the scent of pearls. If pearls have a scent at all. Valaya also smells a bit like soap.

If you've ever wondered what magical creatures smelled like, this is it. A scene of fine pearl dust over a lake covered in all kinds of petals. As kitschy as that sounds, that's what the perfume is like. The name alone screams Barbie Fairytopia. The fragrance catapults me into its very own magical, delicate world.

Musky & floral top, tolerable synthetic DNA. Peach adds fruitiness in the heart & base. Clean girl aesthetic spring-summer scent.

A safe and alluring sweet/floral scent with ambroxan. However, Valaya is not unique or interesting enough to warrant $300+ USD.
