Comparison to PdM Percival

I have decants of Mercedes Benz Man Intense and Percival, and spent some time comparing them side-by-side (in a blind sniff test). There are certainly similarities: both clean, refreshing scents, somewhat generic but also "classic" in an early-2000s sense, and similar notes between them. However, it is extremely obvious, even in "blind" sniff tests, which fragrance is the superior product (and it's not this one). Percival has a bright playfulness behind it, and while the scent is powerful in announcing its presence, it isn't overbearing. MBMI is a bit more cloying, a bit "heavier", less effervescent.

I haven't gotten my nose on Fierce or Legend/Legend EDP recently, and so can't comment on where MBMI fits within the grand scheme of this fragrance family, but this one definitely cannot hang with the upper tier. It's fine and inoffensive, but not exciting, and not something I'll be adding to my collection as a full bottle.

The Pepper Bath for Everyday

Get up and dive into pepper after the shower. The scent strongly reminds me of Dior Fahrenheit in its character, but completely without the gas station fire flavor.
The pepper notes are strong, dominant, and very masculine, lasting throughout the day. Those looking for complexity are in the wrong place with Mercedes-Benz Man Intense. However, if you're in the mood for compliments without taking too much of a risk, this is a go-to. The sillage is powerful and can certainly fill a room. Since the citrus notes are quite subtle in the background, the strong peppery note gives the wearer a commanding presence.
Perfect for the office. For going out, I find it too one-dimensional and flat.

Indefinable, synthetic freshness

I had never really paid attention to Mercedes fragrances before. I once bought the Cologne as an alternative to the almost identical, albeit better, Dior Homme Cologne. I then tried this scent, Man Intense, at the turquoise D and saw that it was on sale. For just under €40 for 50ml, I thought you can't go wrong with that. And I was right.

The scent has synthetic, slightly spicy, and shower gel-like vibes. Yet it still smells very masculine. The listed green notes do not smell fresh but rather artificial. Ambroxan provides good longevity, around 7 to 8 hours, with initially good sillage (about 2 hours). For an EdT, that's quite decent. It slightly reminds me of Jaguar Pace due to the pepper. However, it is spicier and more masculine. I really enjoy using Mercedes Man Intense as an everyday scent, after showering to extend the feeling of freshness or with just a few sprays before exercising. It’s not off-putting, and women mostly like this type of masculine scent.
