When the Desert Fragrances: Royal Dubai Tells
The sun hung like liquid gold over the skyline of Dubai as Karim entered the foyer of the Burj Al Arab. In his tailored dark blue suit, he felt like a protagonist from a movie. But it wasn't the suit that drew attention; it was the scent.

Royal Dubai lay like an invisible aura around him. The first notes of cinnamon and sweet plum mingled with the cool air from the air conditioning and the warm aroma of freshly brewed Arabic coffee from the lobby. A business partner he was meeting for the first time smiled slightly and asked:
"You smell... like a memory I can't grasp. Is that Oud?"
Karim smiled. "Not quite. It's a tribute to the city."

As they later stepped onto the terrace in the warm evening air, the sweet vanilla note enveloped the salty scent of the sea. Boats glided silently by, and the city lights reflected like scattered diamonds in the water. Karim knew that the fragrance was not just perfume; it was a part of his story here.

Years later, when he applied Royal Dubai, he traveled back in his mind to that night: the sound of soft Arabic jazz, the feeling of marble under his shoes - and that magical moment when a city and a fragrance became inseparably linked.

Sweet - Sweet - Floral/Fruity - Royal Dubai
Without having looked much at the fragrance pyramid (I only knew about a "sweet-spicy" note), I tried TNB #8 - 'Royal Dubai' this morning.

The scent starts with an intense fruity, floral sweetness for the first half hour. Even now, I know that because of this extreme sweetness, it won't be for me, but I can't change it now - it's already on my skin ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I associate it with a kind of "mandarin with cotton candy," accompanied by a spicy note, cinnamon? Anise? Clove? After a maximum of 45 minutes, the plum joins in. It slightly reminds me of the plum from "Black Collection - IV | Widian / AJ Arabia," but the one from The Nose Behind is clearly cheaper and weaker here.

The scent doesn't develop much in the next 2-3 hours. The fruity note gradually fades into the background, before being replaced by woods. After a maximum of 4-5 hours, it's unfortunately over - it's only perceptible close to the skin. What remains is a woody cotton candy with a slight hint of rose or musk.

Conclusion:
Unisex scent, but tends to be more for women, while I, as a man, am simply not a fan of such sweet fragrances. A going-out and evening scent for the colder season or at most early spring.
Now that I look at the fragrance pyramid, one can say "you get what the pyramid says" :D

However, "Oriental" it is unfortunately not. It lacks the appropriate spices, power, and wood.

The €175 retail price is not worth it for me; it lacks H/S and has too linear a scent progression. Fans of (very) sweet fragrances will find something to enjoy here.

The Sugar Remains
This perfume is something for lovers of sweetness.

At first, the peppery cinnamon hits you. Within the first hour, a very sweet plum and an extremely dry cedar join in. After about an hour, something floral or slightly soapy becomes noticeable. From then on, a strong candied sugar scent emerges, becoming more pronounced with each passing hour. While the plum quickly fades away and the cinnamon gradually dissipates, the floral note becomes heavier and musk comes through. After about four hours, I can only smell the strong sugar scent, a bit of musk, and very faintly the cedar. Even after showering the next morning, the sugar still clings to the skin.

If you like sugar, you'll enjoy this perfume. For me, it's not my thing.

Subtle Oriental
As a blind buy from the TNB collection, I got you and could hardly wait to test you. At first, I am greeted by plum and cinnamon. Delicious! The perfect scent for the Christmas season. Gourmand sweet. But then, after a short time: where are you, my beautiful fragrance? Or have I become nose-blind? Unfortunately, others can no longer perceive the scent on me after a short time, and I can’t smell it on them either. Maximum 3 hours, and the sillage is even shorter for me; it becomes incredibly close to the skin in no time. For an extrait, this is really disappointing for me. What a pity, because the opening is truly perfectly fruity sweet and opulent. Whether I would associate the scent with Dubai, I cannot say, but it is really nice for winter. So, for those who do not want to overwhelm their family with a scent at Christmas, royal Dubai is definitely worth it. Personally, I would have wished for more power.

Spicy plum somehow hits the mark, with slightly earthy-spicy and floral notes. But it's all too sweet and overpowering for me....

I quite like it. Cinnamon plum on floral-earthy sweetness, becoming creamy woody over time. The sweetness remains moderate.

Pleasant? Yes. Spicy? Yes. Fruity-sweet? Yes. Oriental? Kind of... it feels intentional, but somehow doesn't quite hit the mark.

Way too sweet, like a kids' punch, heavily infused with plum and cinnamon aromas. Could cause heartburn in sensitive individuals.

For me, the best from the brand. Oriental light with spicy plum + sweet flowers in woody musk cream. Less sugar would have been better.

Elegant dried plum with woods and leather accents in the back office. Sour-cinnamony notes make a masculine statement.

Very nice scent! Slightly oriental, gourmand-sweet, powdery, and simply pleasant to wear. Performance could be better.
