Unfortunately not a lucky "half-blind buy"
I was visiting a friend in Rostock this winter and strolled past a really nice, newly opened perfume store in the pedestrian zone. When I spotted the Xerjoff bottles, I just had to ask my friend for a "short detour".
The owner, a really nice guy, took a lot of time to sniff through his range with me. We had completely opposing opinions on many things, which I should probably have memorized better. At some point, we ended up with the Nishane fragrances, of which he mainly presented me with the latest (most expensive) flagships... but there was one that stuck with me, took my heart by storm and had a lasting effect... yes, I know, late to the party, very, very late... but it was quite simply: Hacivat... this unagitated, masculine elegance, just totally mine. And then came the owner's sentence that brought me to this review: Yes, it's still very fine, but the Hacivat X is even better, but unfortunately I don't have it here to test.
And that sentence has stayed with me for weeks... so I thought to myself: trust the professional, ordered the better version... well
About the fragrance:
Just on this one day, I got to know the House of Nishane as a very unagitated, but high-quality house, but what is offered here is in stark contrast to my previous impression.
The opening is very synthetic for me, the pineapple has a very sticky note, almost syrupy, weighs very heavily and these smoky notes have a steroidal bang and seem anything but authentic. Now I have to say that I'm more of a fan of understatement when it comes to fragrances, simple, luxurious quality just catches me the most. So not really my cup of tea here.
Let's wait for the drydown, who knows what will develop here after this burnt synth pineapple thrown in your face...
Unfortunately not too much, the progression is quite linear for me, a blessing for some fragrances, here unfortunately not at all... it becomes a little lighter at most, the DNA remains... for me, two worlds collide here that are incompatible: Summery fruit, much too heavy, almost headache-inducing interpreted.... so neither at home in summer nor in winter. It's a shame, but now that Nishane is probably also available to sniff at KaDeWe, I'll probably form my own opinion of the fragrances there in the future.
