Hello dear sniffers and welcome to a new fragrance commentary from me. Recently, I tried the scent "Perdizione" by Nobile 1942, which I will be reporting on today. The name of the fragrance makes it difficult for me to write a proper commentary without once again ranting about the horrors of men, women, and so on… :D
Perdizione means "damnation" or "ruin," and I just don't know why, but these terms always make me think of women, especially now in autumn, around Halloween time (even if by the time this commentary is published, Halloween might already be long gone). And yes, I know, I often complain about women, and at some point, this will indeed be my ruin, argh! However, I couldn't figure out why the fragrance is actually called Perdizione. According to the description, it is supposed to evoke memories of more intense times when one chased their dreams and was more willing to take risks, but that doesn't mean that every risk has to lead to ruin… or does it?
Anyway, I am curious about the scent, as it is from Nobile 1942, and they often have very beautiful fragrances in stock!
The Scent:
At first, I smell a powdery vanilla, followed by lighter scents like oranges, then neroli, then back to powdery vanilla,… and well, it continues like this for a while. So at the beginning, the scent is neither heavy nor light and smells like a typical, but nice all-rounder. Soon, lavender joins in and gives the fragrance a nice, green-herbaceous, and floral note.
Over time, the vanilla becomes quite strong and, for me, is the main scent note here. It radiates strongly, as usual, but also gently and beautifully, conveying a lovely warmth that seems to warm one up in winter. The oranges are still present, even if they have become significantly weaker by now.
The scent becomes sweeter and more powdery in the base, and I probably don't need to mention that at some point, you can really only smell the vanilla best. Either way, Perdizione has become a very beautiful fragrance.
The Sillage and Longevity:
The sillage may seem moderate at first spray, but it builds up gradually and is then quite strong, especially due to notes like vanilla, so be careful with the dosage :)
Okay, if a fragrance only smells like vanilla in the later base, you can assume that the scent will likely last until the next day. Yup, you can still smell the fragrance (or at least the vanilla) quite well at the sprayed spot the next morning.
The Bottle:
The bottle is rectangular (or rather octagonal because it has beveled side edges) and has the brand's logo embedded in the glass on the side. On the front, there is a metallic-gold label. The cap is cylindrical, its pattern looks like brushed metal, and is, of course, gold-plated to match the rest of the bottle. A beautiful, solid-looking bottle.
Conclusion:
Hmm, I find this fragrance very successful. Although I couldn't decide at first whether it was an all-rounder, I now know that the scent is autumnal and wintry. The combination of oranges and vanilla even makes the fragrance seem a bit festive. In any case, many people enjoy the scent of fragrant oranges at this time, especially when they work well with sweet and spicy notes and don't come off too citrusy-summery. And that's exactly the case here. The scent is wonderfully soft and beautiful and can certainly comfort one through the cold days when feeling uncomfortable due to the cold weather. It can be used wonderfully not only for itself in winter but also for going out; I think it should be quite well received.
I only find the name of the fragrance somewhat inappropriate, as the scent has turned out quite beautifully and even reminds me of the wonderful Advent season. Ruin or damnation? No…
… hmm… could it be that I've been complaining a bit too much about women and/or perfumes lately? :D I mean, women and ruin, can that even be? You can't really imagine that such beautiful and delicate beings could be the downfall of us all, can you? Well, there have certainly been some "events" in history that had severe consequences, like Helena, for whom the Trojan War was triggered. Think of the sirens who lured male sailors to their doom. Think of the Millennium Computer Bug about 20 years ago that nearly caused all computer systems to crash at the turn of the year from 1999 to 2000, putting many in fear and hysteria, and was largely caused not by a computer specialist but by a computer specialistIN! He he he, maybe women will indeed be our downfall someday, who knows, I just know that I won't survive long if I keep ranting about perfumes and then still dare to show up at a future Parfumo meeting (someday again, especially after the damned Corona crisis!) :DD
But, I wish you all a nice and wonderful evening as always, and I often mention that you ladies are beautiful and sexy, and basically, I'm quite nice, so you can't be too mad at me, right? :)))
