An enjoyable fougere
I've had Fougère Nobile in my collection for about a year. I came across it when I was looking for samples to try and the bottle stood out. Once I received the sample I decided to make the purchase. In the U.S. it is available from discounters so you can save some money when making your purchase.

The scent comes across linear. Having this early in my fragrance journey I found it interesting how certain notes were perceptible to my nose, especially the lavender and tobacco notes. I also picked up a shaving cream accord. Underlying this was the black pepper.

The fragrance lasts 8-12 hours on my skin. It's not very loud; sillage is maybe arms length. It's office friendly; you can wear this in a professional setting. That said, it can easily be worn casually, dressed up or down. If you're looking for compliments this is not the fragrance that will attract attention; if you're looking for clean, versatile fragrance Fougere Nobile may be what you're looking for. Though described as unisex, to me it leans more masculine.

At this point I am about half-way through the 75ml bottle. When finished, I'm sure I'll purchase a new bottle to keep this in my collection.

Fougère Blonde
Fougères are for me *actually* ultimately masculine fragrances. Cracked leather, smoke bombs, barbershop soap -- all of this I would generally wear as a woman and as the woman I am, without batting an eye. I wouldn’t find it out of place on me (of course, it depends on the individual case, naturally).

However, not Fougères. My association (or rather - my prejudice?): herbal, spicy men’s fragrances in dark green, bitter and strong. A fragrance world where a man is still a man, at least in his self-image. Perhaps also a somewhat, hmm, conservative man. One who has arrived in the second half of his life, possibly even in an advanced stage.

In short: Fougères are outside my fragrance and life horizon.

Actually. But then comes one that quite expands my horizon. And overturns everything that has come before. Just like that, casually, it sneaks up and introduces itself; and after I’ve taken a whiff of it, suddenly everything is completely different.

This one is a Blonde. Even younger. And not conservative at all. It has soft skills and gentle sides. Which it is quite willing to show - very appealing!

Soft floral lavender and rose geranium aromatically embrace a strong, juicy, spicy tobacco-wood note, which is sharp yet bright and increasingly malty sweet.
The rather dominant vetiver here is not dark and musty or vegetable-like, but rather almost fruit-fleshy juicy, and everything swirls around simultaneously while remaining relatively reliably linear in this colorful movement (if that makes sense ^^).

This is certainly quite delicious and tempts me to bury my nose in this skin and inhale it delightfully until the fine hairs on my body stand up in bliss. Wow, is it beautiful *_*

I see and smell no dark green and grumpy-herbaceous, perhaps even rotten herb (sorry, Leimbacher ;-)). Instead, I see a shimmering kaleidoscope of changing, radiant notes. No dense thicket, but transparency without shallowness.
Delicate. Aromatic. Modern. Noble. Full of facets and zest for life, mobile yet well grounded and down-to-earth. It has a lightness despite the depth, unfolds surprisingly well in breadth, and covers everything I like. And that with enormous longevity. There’s no “but.”

This one is different from the others. It is something special and has something that other Fougères do not have - it is a step in a new direction. Want it!

Nature - from the Veranda
I step out onto the veranda. It’s late morning, the sun is already high. Warm, yet still fresh herbal notes waft towards me from the forest. After a while, they are replaced by dark, floral garden notes, over which a pleasantly tobacco-like hint lingers. The gardener seems to have lit his pipe. With much leisure, I observe how the freshness of the late morning fades; with rising warmth, the air becomes "deeper." Dark, dry fruits join in. I can’t stop sniffing and must have dozed off a bit from all the inhaling in the rocking chair. When I wake later, I hear that there’s some serious activity going on in the laundry room. Hm. Does it have to be today? All the wonderful impressions of the day are overshadowed by the smell of freshly hung laundry wafting up to me from right under my veranda. Grumbling, I leave the peaceful spot and don’t quite know what to do...

Well, that’s how it is with "Fougère Nobile." A nature boy, with whom you don’t have to struggle through muddy paths or dark underbrush. All the fragrance components are wonderfully harmonized with each other. From the veranda, nature is indeed at its best... If only the musk in the base weren’t there!! I at least associate a laundry detergent note with it - even if "white musk" is not explicitly listed in the fragrance pyramid. Either way, it’s annoying - and ruins the perfect veranda day that I had spent dozing and sniffing in the rocking chair until then.

What a pity. The wonderful fragrance experience of the first five hours almost led me to concede that "Fougère Nobile" has the potential to be a timeless classic. Unfortunately, the second five hours of almost characterless synthetic freshness nullify everything. That’s tough. But while the eye often values the first impression, the nose usually remembers the last. Therefore: Adieu "Fougère propre."

When does wine become undrinkable?
Nobile 1942 is a classic, great brand that I unfortunately have had far too little contact with so far. No wonder, as the fragrances are hardly ever visible in stores, mostly leaving only blind purchases. And although a few scents along with their descriptions sound extremely tempting + the price is absolutely reasonable, it always felt too risky for me. That’s why a sample of the new Fougere Nobile came just at the right time! I really love Fougere!

The scent is most comparable to the reissue of the classic Fougere Royale by Houbigant, but it is still a whole lot wetter, heavier, and mustier. The scent is very interesting, unmistakably a Fougere, but definitely takes some getting used to, even for fans of the genre. Fougere Nobile smells noble & ripe, almost overripe. A very deep, dark green. Like overripe white wine. Almost a bit rotten & mossy. Wine, sludge, moisture, cellar vaults. Completely without being animalistic or directly disgusting. Even modern women's noses like it, which absolutely speaks for it & against my somewhat rotten impression. Fascinating! Perhaps this damp-dark impression is created by a daring mix of tonka, pepper & tobacco, although the scent doesn’t really come across as spicy. More like a very muted & dense woodruff. Vetiver & geranium continue to color green & also play no small role. It can best be categorized as a suit scent or a very unusual signature. A feast for trained noses & definitely a fragrance where you can't avoid a skin scent, as it creates almost a unique symbiosis with the wearer & feels much deeper than on the strip!

Bottle: noble, handy, straightforward
Sillage: a classic Fougere in the middle range, not to be underestimated nor overapplied!
Longevity: 10 hours is solid, no, very good work.

Conclusion: the noble wine thrush! The compost Fougere! An interesting representative for Fougere fans, definitely worth testing! But it could polarize!

Year-End Fragrance, Part 2: Fresh Hay, Greenish Flower Stems, and Brown Sun-Kissed Tobacco
Very distinctive. That's the first thing that comes to mind about "Fougère Nobile."

Indeed, the name is somewhat misleading in that there is undoubtedly a very modern understanding of Fougère at play here.

A plant-like quality is developed here that strongly focuses on harmonization rather than bearded roughness.

It seems to me that Coumarin, even though it is not mentioned above, is very central; perhaps the combination of lavender, geranium, and tonka bean creates just this impression:
A strong hay aroma is very much at the center at the beginning, but not dried out or dusty, rather quite lively.

There may be a rather subtle vetiver touch involved, and the rose geranium has a pleasant, slightly herbaceous-earthy-floral radiance.

The whole is embedded in a smooth, sweetly-dry plant quality that clearly seems to stem strongly from tobacco. Beautiful, dried, brown, and sun-kissed tobacco leaves, among which a slightly greenish hue peeks through here and there.

Overall, the fragrance achieves an interesting mix of slightly sweet (where I mean a distinctly dry sweetness), dry plant-like, and minimal green accents, which certainly gives it a unique characteristic among fragrances that bear "Fougère" in their name.

However, fans of the classic green, herbaceous, and herbal idea of the fragrance concept might want to keep their distance. Nobile 1942 stretches the term to the utmost, without, however, misusing it.

Very unique, cool green with a more intense tobacco. It initially smells very medicinal, then becomes more pleasant; it has a scent of hay.

Aromatic, spicy, and slightly sweet. I quite like and wear it a lot. It has a similar vibe to Lord George by Penhaligon's for me.
