Angel in the forest
This starts out with sweet honey, dried fruit, dark chocolate and a very earthy patchouli. At first it takes a turn into the sweet gourmand direction and gives me lovely wafts.
It's definitely part of the large extended family of Mugler's Angel. The patch/honey/gourmand structure is very familiar from Angel and its flankers. On other sites this gets compated to Angel Muse, but that one is much creamier and smoother.

The patchouli in here is really herbal and earthy, and after a couple of hours it takes over the scent and creates a foresty vibe. The honey is still there, but quieter and waxier than before, the chocolate and dried fruits are only an accent and sit close to the skin. It all feels very autumnal and would fit the mood while walking through the woods on a rainy day. I wouldn't have thought of a market in Bali like the marketing blurb says, but I've never been there, so maybe I'm wrong.

This is a nice scent, but it doesn't bring anything really new to the table. They drydown is a bit disappointing after the lovely heart phase. It's a weaker like for me, better than just okay, but far from a love.

…and not a bit quiet
My mother has always been a perfume lover. And she has always preferred it to be striking and correspondingly loud. While she loved classic chypre fragrances as a young woman, she jumped on the gourmand train in the nineties with the launch of Mugler's Angel. She was particularly taken with these scents due to their opulence, sweetness, and ability to fill a room. Even though she is not a particularly loud person, she loves to communicate through her appearance. Her clothing style, including her glasses, has always been bold, loud, and colorful.

My mother is now seventy years old, and her current favorite fragrance is Scandal by Jean Paul Gaultier. She also enjoys scents like Teint de Neige by Villoresi or Micallef's Mon Parfum. They must be sweet and room-filling, her perfumes. When I visit her, the first thing that greets me in her apartment is her very special scent cloud. And I perceive exactly this with Dear Diary.

This is an opulent gourmand that doesn't waste any time. It kicks off with an intense honey note and sweet flowers. The bees can come! Despite the almost tooth-aching sweetness, Dear Diary is and remains thoroughly a perfume and never becomes food-like. A scent that wants to provoke. If it had a color, it would be bright red. With the sweet chocolate and its fine patchouli note, it is always perfectly balanced. I clearly recognize parallels to Scandal here, especially regarding the honey note. Although this fragrance is, of course, composed a bit more elegantly and - oh wonder - lasts even longer than the Gaultier. I can also detect hints of Angel and Mon Parfum in Dear Diary. Yes, this is how Mom smells. Just like that and not otherwise. One thing is clear. She will get this sample. And I bet she will buy this fragrance too.

Now, it is said that the reference fragrances I mentioned, especially Scandal, according to marketing and the various chatter one hears here and there, are supposed to be reserved for very young women, even girls. And such a thing is supposed to be worn by a seventy-year-old? Yes, she does. With pride. And this fragrance direction is absolutely wonderful on her.

Because to this day, she is not a bit quiet when it comes to scent and style. Stay just as you are, Mom!

A big thank you to Gandix for the sample, which I will pass on soon :)

Gourmand or Gourmet?
So far, I have kept a wide berth from the so-called "sweet gourmand fragrances."
Although I enjoy sweet treats, I prefer them with dark chocolate.
I find things like cotton candy, marshmallows, vanillin, overpowering caramel syrup, and sugary synthetic fruit essences truly creepy.
Smelling like that? Never in my life!
The term gourmand fits such things, which means "glutton" or "big eater," while gourmet refers more to the connoisseur.
Now, a fragrance has reached me in a traveling package that I would never have encountered otherwise, with the brand completely unknown to me, and then the label sweet-gourmand!
But everything develops completely unexpectedly:
The scent takes me on a visit to the experimental kitchen of an excellent pastry chef. The master is currently creating new pralines and truffles made from dark chocolate with wonderful fillings.
From the large pot wafts the warm, liquid couverture made from selected cocoa varieties, perfectly conched, waiting to be used as a dipping bath.
In the small pots are the various fillings, whose fine spices are already harmoniously blending with the chocolate in the air.
My nose is glued to the arm; I could easily reenact the orgasm scene from "Harry and Sally" :-)
The longevity is also fantastic:
When the spices and the sweetness of the dried fruits have evaporated after hours, the darkest, chocolaty amber remains on the skin for a long, long time, which I have ever had the pleasure of smelling.
A true gourmet fragrance, thank you very much, dear Gandix!

An erotic feast for the senses
I don't want any chocolate
I would rather.....
That's actually my motto,
But this one.....
At first it bites my nose,
But then I taste it
I have a milk mustache on my upper lip
Chocolate milk
Only moderately sweet
A hint of vanilla aroma
The honey drips thick from my lips.
What a delicious brew
Patchouli brings a delicate earthy note,
that fits wonderfully.
Brown, like cocoa powder on the chocolate milk.
The whole thing rests on a wonderfully chocolaty amber-benzoin base.
Accompanied by a diffuse, extremely gentle spiciness.
Sooo soft.
Well, I thought until now that I don't like chocolate scents.
How one can be mistaken.
Gentle and very interesting, like all the Dear Diary scents I have tested so far.
Worth a try.

God is beautiful! Smells like skin brushed with honey, dusted with cocoa, and drizzled with milk. This is how moms should smell. Like angels!

Delicious milk chocolate dipped in honey, leaning towards the darker side.
Plus a few dried fruits (in the background).
Yummy.

Again, the brand's DNA bothers me here: musk powder (strong) overshadows the other (sweet) notes and blends into resinous accents.
