Mediterranean Spice Pan
When I started to take a broader interest in fragrances in the 90s, beyond just marveling at the bottles and pouring whatever came to hand, I became aware that there were and are trends in perfumes. However, the trend of that time, "aquatic," was not at all to my taste, and I was glad and happy when "gourmand" took its place. Alongside, there were always fragrances that were new and different and did not conform to any trend. Corallo has something aquatic, but I wouldn't classify it as a typical sea breeze scent. It is quite difficult to categorize: The top note is very spicy, but green and completely without sweetness. But I can't call it fresh either. More like a Mediterranean bouquet of herbs and spices. This green-heavy composition, where I can hardly pick out a single herb, also runs through the heart note. At times, a salty freshness comes through, which I find quite nice, as otherwise it would have too much of that "cough syrup" character of some other herb-heavy fragrances. It never slips into the medicinal category but remains fresh and lively. As my first Ortigia, it naturally makes me curious about the others. Personally, it is too green for me; I would only want to wear it in very high temperatures or in Tuscany, but it is very original and of very high quality.
