Elegant, diaphanous Japanese perfumery.

Those were the first words that came to mind after sampling Suiren for the first time. Suiren smells like a classic French perfume with a very Japanese ambience. The eucalyptus is very, and I mean very, softly camphorous here, more like a cloud on which the lotus flower bounces gently. The pear and watermelon bring just the slightest touch of fruity sweetness. Suiren is light and airy, a perfect scent for the office and any season. It`s very beautifuly blended and I can imagine many people falling in love with this. Personally, I`m not the biggest fan of fruity notes, so I get tired of it after a few hours.

A Summer Morning. When the Park Awakens

A quiet morning. As so often on Sundays, when everything is still asleep. I decide on a longer run and start on the small gravel path through the park. Passing by the lily pond and the fountain. On my right, the river flows. It too is mostly calm, seeming to still be asleep. Two ducklings, a drake and a lady, are sleeping by the lily pond. I encounter this couple often. They are late risers. Sometimes they are still lying there relaxed when I am on my way back. Sometimes I find them quacking and begging for food in the river.

It is early summer. Everything is blooming. The bushes and shrubs are showing off in their finest attire and with their most delicate scents. How lovely the water lilies look. And the air is so wonderfully fresh at this hour. When I pass this spot again on my way back, the small park in our city is already livelier. Some people are making their way through. I only notice the flowers on the periphery now. A hint of my deodorant lingers in the air, mixed with my skin scent. Now it's time to head home.

Suiren is already the second fragrance from the house of Satori that has completely enchanted me. It starts softly fresh, becomes more floral in the middle, brushed with gentle aquatic notes, and ends with a heavenly base of musk, jasmine, and wood, similar to the Sakura, which I have quite fallen in love with. I attribute the light aquatic note here to the watermelon. Actually, I don’t really like melons in perfume. And roses are generally not my preferred flowers either. But Satori manages to work with notes that are not typically my type and still convinces me completely. There’s something about this fragrance that also makes me think of lilac, even though it supposedly shouldn’t be included.

Yes, despite the light aqua note and a lot, a lot of floral, Suiren can also be a fragrance for me. However, I don’t have to worry about that, as this fragrance is not available for purchase here. I’ll keep it in mind, though, because I would love to take a trip to Japan someday. If I actually do that, we should hopefully return to normal circumstances sooner or later, then I will keep an eye out for Suiren, provided it hasn’t been discontinued again.

A heartfelt thank you to Andrula and Floyd for the lovely discovery set from Satori, which will now be passed on. It has brought me a lot of joy. And with the wonderful Sakura, which was unfortunately empty, I am still not done. The next sample is coming soon, which I am eagerly awaiting.
