False Fleshly Desire
For most perfumers, jasmine is actually the queen of flowers - but for botanists, it is definitely the orchid, as it is considered particularly beautiful. Accordingly, the orchid is metaphorically used to signify something exceptionally attractive and rare - of course, also in connection with a sexual connotation.
And when Paul Emilien connects his orchid with Charnelle, meaning fleshy, he probably had very sensual thoughts in mind.
That's fine ... but somehow the flesh of the grapefruit has managed to dominate everything else.
Certainly, this Eau de Parfum offers many floral notes and impressions, paired with fresh accents of green tones, but the grapefruit is clearly the star here - and a really big one at that.
In this interplay, an elegant summer-fruity top note emerges, but it doesn't really relate much to the theme and only lasts for a limited time. Moreover, Orchidée Charnelle is clearly a women's fragrance, although I see it more suited for young women without wanting to spark a gender and age debate.
Those women will probably be happier with the perfume than I am. After all, it’s no secret that I don’t particularly favor delicate floral scents on myself, and I conducted the test solely by myself on a rainy Sunday at home.
Otherwise, this is a solid, rather sour than sweet sparkling grapefruit scent with fine floral undertones.
