Animagical Woman Puma 2010

Because I would have needed it after my oral exam. As a student on a budget, I bought two low-budget fragrances because I wanted to treat myself after passing the exam and, being who I am, I tend to overthink my performance. So I visited Rossmann (conveniently close to campus) and headed for Animagical and Christina Aguilera By Night (by the way, Euphoria is on sale, so I know where I’ll end up again at the end of the week...).

In the evening, I tested Puma (because I’m still a bit apprehensive about the supposedly HP-like Christina). Interestingly, there were no testers available for either of the fragrances I had in mind.

By the way, I’m still a novice when it comes to scents, but I hope to learn ^^
Nevertheless, I immediately pick out the citrus notes. At first, it’s slightly piercing; I personally prefer lemon over grapefruit, and generally like both, but together they are a bit too much for me. Not unpleasant, but a bit too "juicy-bitter".
Aftershave.
For several minutes, that was the first thing that came to mind when I sniffed my arm. I imagined the disco guy, a modified version of the advertising figure, teasing me from the corner of my kitchen.
That then softens to "shower gel, well okay.
But knowing that the chocolate I’m craving has to wait in line before it can join the dance, I’ll focus on something else for now.
It becomes milder, and the flowers start to peel away, Freesia, I think, because water lily doesn’t smell like this. And you have to imagine papaya; I can at least picture it for a while due to the still-present fruitiness.

And then came what I would call "balsamic" as a newcomer... sandalwood? It somehow settles on my palate, and I usually know it to be denser and softer (I suspect ^^).
But it warms the fruity note and then isn’t unpleasant; one could get used to it (but I don’t have to, at least).
I’m still waiting for the chocolate. If it comes, I’ll let you know. It’s a shame, because without it in the pyramid, I would probably have given the fragrance my "side eye" from the start. It seems that’s how it will be.

Overall, I would say that the fragrance belongs to summer for me. The warm sandalwood with the citrus notes (still slightly piercing) evokes the image of us as children: a hot July evening, around half past nine, we’re sitting on the warm steps of our front porch drinking lemon soda (or maybe rather bitter lemon; it’s not that sweet and artificial).

Warming stones on my backside and bitter-sweet-sour fizz in my mouth: Puma Animagical (but even back then, chocolate would have been welcome to complete the picture :P).

Sillage is, in my opinion, rather close to the body, but that fits quite well.

Recently, I was browsing in the perfume section of the supermarket and discovered Animagical Woman.
It reminded me of my sporty days when I liked to wear good Puma running shoes, and I thought with a guilty conscience about putting them on again and going for a run.
For now, though, I just sprayed some - to prepare.
Oh, I was surprised by a fresh aroma of grapefruit and lemon.
Great, especially in the sweltering heat.
The refreshment continued with the cool water lily.
After a while, a delicate chocolate scent dared to emerge.
I wanted to take the pleasant fragrance with me, but I only found the tester.
The nice saleswoman wrote me a fair price on the bottle and handed it to me.
Very accommodating - just like the scent.

The scent of the perfume:
Top note
The top note starts off very strong and fruity. It has an intense lemon scent, but I unfortunately couldn't detect the grapefruit that is supposed to be included. So the opening is really quite powerful and intensely lemony.

Heart note
The heart note smells fruity but also floral. I can smell the papaya as a fruit, and I think I can also detect a bit of the water lily. Altogether, it really comes together to create a pleasant scent that one can definitely wear, but it is nothing special and, in my opinion, lacks anything unique in the heart note. The heart note simply lacks that special something that I recognize in other perfumes, the kind where I can say when I smell it, it reminds me of Puma Animagical, and I can recognize that scent again.

Base note:
The base note is rather plain, and I can hardly smell it, in my opinion. It has a sweet scent reminiscent of chocolate. It would be a very nice, pleasant scent if it were more intense and the chocolate scent came across better and stronger.

Personal opinion:
I was lucky to receive this perfume through a voucher, so I didn't have to be upset about spending money on it. The bottle looks quite carelessly designed to me, and it gives the impression that the manufacturer just wanted to launch a new scent. The fragrance also doesn't last long on the skin; after at least 6 hours, you can hardly perceive it anymore, which isn't necessarily a bad thing since you can apply a new scent. The smell is very intense at first and strongly lemony, then you can smell something fruity and floral. It consists of papaya and water lily; the heart note itself isn't bad, but it also doesn't have that certain something that makes it recognizable. That's a pity; it's more of a scent that you often smell, one that you have to say is neither great nor so bad that you would never use it again. I actually wear it when I go out to play with my daughter or take a ride on the bike path, so I smell good but don't have to use one of my good perfumes. Unfortunately, I can't recommend this scent as it couldn't convince me.

The scent starts off very citrusy, very fruity, very fresh, and definitely delicious; there's nothing to complain about there, even after I’ve spilled the whole concoction all over my hand. However, why this fragrance is named as it is remains a mystery that I will probably never solve.

Primarily, the fruitiness and summery freshness of the scent persist. After some time, you can sense the chocolate in the base from miles away, if you know it’s there. If you don’t know, then forget it. A bit more chocolate would certainly have been interesting and might have given the fragrance a little kick in the right direction.

The scent lacks that certain something at every turn. There’s really not much more to elaborate on. The scent is fruity. The scent is fresh. The scent is summery. And without a doubt, the scent can be a lot of fun on the right wearer.

However, Animagical and I will not become friends. There are what feels like 5000 fragrances that smell similar. So why should I choose this one?

Recognition factor: Nope!
