The Invictus Aqua 2016 is still one of my summer favorites and since I only have one full and one half-full bottle of the original, I'm already looking for alternatives. I've already worn the most frequently mentioned ones several times and would like to briefly compare them with the original here. First of all, none of them is really a clone and they are all very different from the original!
The frosted glass bottle of the original is beautifully made, but I find the chunky spray heads on all Paco Rabanne Invictus and 1 Million Flankers a bit "cheap". Sure, they are visually integrated into the design, but they are usually very cumbersome to press and squeak and creak like in an attic.
For me, the scent of the original is the perfect combination of freshness, sweetness and wearability in summer, and it always goes everywhere in high temperatures. I support it with a few sprays of Molecule 01, which goes very well together. It's lively and "young", but labeling it as a "teenage fragrance" doesn't do it justice, as it also goes down well with older people. Of course it is a "synthetic fragrance", but in a pleasant form. Not all synthetics are the same, as you will see with some alternatives.
Its longevity and sillage are quite good for me, especially for a fresh fragrance.
Lattafa Najdia
Najdia Eau de Parfum That was my first Lattafa fragrance a few years ago and it was praised everywhere as the alternative and even today some Youtubers still say that, I don't know why they do that. I was very disappointed, because for me it is still the worst Lattafa fragrance I have and I have a lot of them. Extremely synthetic, downright oppressive and if anything it has a bit of a resemblance to drydown, but you have to be very gracious about that. The longevity is good though.
Lattafa Hayaati
Hayaati It is still sometimes hyped as an alternative on YouTube and TikTok, especially because it seems to go down well with women. Unfortunately, Lattafa has once again reached deep into the chemistry lab. Not quite as bad as the Najdia, but here in the intensive sting version. You shouldn't spray it too much because it can be very tiring for the nose! Here too, the only parallel to the "role model" is that the scent is at least in the same direction. However, the longevity is good here too.
Rasasi Hawas "Hawas for Him | Rasasi"
I still have an old batch from the early days and it's also one of my summer favorites. It has the same scent and also offers a nice mix of freshness and sweetness. It is definitely a possible alternative, although the scent is a little different in direct comparison, especially spicier and in the drydown. Its brute durability and sillage should be emphasized. Incidentally, it came out a year before Invictus Aqua 2016, but I don't think Paco Rabanne wanted to clone Hawas, because they smell too different for that.
Rasasi Hawas Ice "Hawas Ice | Rasasi"
This has been made a lot sweeter than its predecessor, which is exciting, but takes it even further away from Invictus Aqua 2016. Otherwise, it has the same characteristics as the normal Hawas with an extra portion of freshness on top and also a very good shelf life.
So far, unfortunately, I haven't managed to find a really good clone of the original and it doesn't seem to be that easy to clone it, even though it's "only" an Invictus Flanker. So the search continues and if I find one, I'll let you know!
