A Karl Lagerfeld for Him - no, wait - Armani Code knock-off

From the look of the bottle and the violet-based composition, I initially thought this was supposed to be a clone of Karl Lagerfeld for Him, which, to be honest, is a mediocre fragrance. Password doesn't quite capture the sickly composition of the original, which might be for the better. For a dirt-cheap scent, about ten times cheaper than For Him, it does a good job. The problem is that it smells somewhat rough and artificial. I would not wear this given a choice, but it's not very offensive either.

The name, however, suggests this is a clone of Armani Code, and after trying Code, I have to agree. They were just re-using the black bottle. I have yet to compare the two side-by-side, but from I remember it’s pretty close to the original, as Code isn’t particularly impressive either (though better than KL for Him, I would say).

Wow, I am thrilled!

Sprayed on my arm in the evening, I had to keep sniffing it in bed. Very beautiful scent. I don't necessarily need the mandarin in the top note; it doesn't hurt, but it fades quite quickly. What remains is an absolutely soft and alluring smell throughout the entire duration.
La Rive knows what they're doing, even if they are just clones; this one is top-notch. I consider the absolute quality, as I don't know the original. But if the original smells like this, then I need it, though I almost fear that the original might disappoint me.
Fragrances can be evaluated subjectively, and Password is once again the perfect proof that users here not only rate the scent but also let other completely irrelevant factors influence their ratings. This thing a 6.5? I can't be so different that I think that's underrated.
Get a grip, be open, and evaluate what it's really about-the scent. Because it's fantastic.
By the way, the spray head is excellent, with a nice long stroke, not too fine, not too coarse misting, and a suitable spray angle.
Even the bottle is fine if you let go of the "this is a dupe" thought. The chrome-plated plastic feels a bit cheap, but otherwise, the thing is quite okay.

La Rive has cracked the code. Insider tip!

So La Rive is already known as a perfume brand that creates low-budget copies of the big perfume manufacturers.
This scent is very similar to Armani Code.
It also lasts a long time for an inexpensive fragrance.
For me, around 8 hours easily.
The scent is great and the sillage is quite good.
For little money, this is a fragrance that you should definitely try.
Not a replacement but a cheaper alternative to the significantly more expensive Code.
About 6.99 euros for 90ml makes it one of the best low-budget fragrances on the market.
I think it's good and I've been approached about it often.

For the price - OK, but nothing more

Hey,

I got this scent to see if these "dupe" brands like LA RIVE deliver at least a bit of quality.

Either the hopes and expectations were too high, or the scent really isn’t the best.
You can recognize the woody and sweet notes of an Armani Code, but the composition is not exactly amazing. It all smells very synthetic and not "Armani-like".
But hey, for the price (7.99 for 75ml) it was worth a try.

Longevity: max. 3h on me
Sillage: only 30 min, after that it’s only close to the skin.
Bottle: the best part of the scent. This black and silver bottle has at least a bit of class visually.

Conclusion: If you want an Armani Code, you should stay away from this one.

The Gentle Tough Guy

Never read, heard, or even smelled it before. Yet here it is with me. Thanks to a generous "nose-sharing" as a swap goodie.
What immediately comes to mind after the first test: A powerful "tough guy" with a gentle temperament. A spiced wood scent that seems almost too sweet in the first half hour, but later significantly softens through rosemary and woods, transforming into a warm winter fragrance. Very present and almost powdery. It smells almost like how a "sandy" panne velvet feels. Color: Reddish-brown.
I could almost think that the perfume doesn’t change anymore once it reaches a certain "point." Yet, in slow motion, a "clove" note gradually emerges, making the scent darker and even spicier. The initial sweetness is further compensated by this. But it never turns coarse or overly bitter. It remains gentle and pleasantly warm.
Nothing overly special, but definitely wearable and lovely.

A warming winter scent with gentle spice. Initially a bit too sweet. Woods and rosemary balance it out later. Has a soft, powdery feel. Velvet impression.

Fresh, woody, powdery, sweet. Somewhere between sporty and gentleman. Really pleasant. I usually spray little, but this one needs between 5 and 10 sprays.
