Approachable
A very well presented white floral that’s easy to wear for any occasion. For me it feels feminine, summery, approachable, yet I’d be careful not to overspray as it does have quite a bit of reach.
I spray twice on my wrists then dab them elsewhere. It gives me an all over scent without feeling as if I marinated in it.
While not high up on my favorite list, it still has a place there, perhaps at the bottom and only worn in the summer.

Olfactory white lie
Gardenia is one of those blooms that can't be extracted, and this defiant flower is a good example of modern perfumery.
There is no gardenia essential oil, and so, all gardenia scents are reconstructions. As perfume historian Élisabeth de Feydeau wrote, they reside somewhere between the natural and the artificial; they must be an olfactory lie but somehow true to nature.
Piguet's Gardénia is an abstract white floral based on lily, jasmin and ylang ylang, with mushroom, powder, praline, 'leather' and vanillin to give it character. Although I have rarely smelled gardenia, this doesn't smell much like it; but that's par for the course, most gardenia scents don't.
And if it's not like real gardenia, does that matter? Not really.
Instead of it being a weakness, this is a strength of modern perfumery; it isn't tied to nature. Nature is not the goal but only a starting point for the perfumer's imagination.
So whether Piguet's Gardénia smells like gardenia is beside the point. What matters is, does it smell good?
Yes, it does.

My Lily in Autumn
When I was searching for a fragrance with lily, I happened to hear about Gardenia by Piguet, and shortly thereafter, I became the proud owner of a sample... The scent captivated me from the very first moment; I knew I was dealing with a true treasure.
This Gardenia has something alluring yet distant about it.
While the name of the fragrance may confuse some, in reality, it presents the noble lily in all its glory. The main player indeed.
For me, it is the perfect lily that does not cause headaches and is very wearable (even for the office).
Lily that appears spicy with a hint of green, not intrusive and by no means too sweet. Pure elegance.
Perhaps the leather accord gives it a certain structure and order so that it doesn't become overly floral and monotonous. The masculine side tempers the sweetness a bit and rounds the fragrance out.
This lily unfolds particularly in autumn and generously shares its warmth and protection.
Although the longevity is not above average, it is better that everything remains in moderation; after all, one doesn't need to smell strong for 8 hours straight. I still perceive a hint of this fragrance over a longer period.
Gardenia, for me, embodies the balance of presence and yet understatement, as well as a certain restraint (which is rarely said about fragrances with lily).
I couldn't wear the fragrance daily. It's like with a favorite dish - the special thing about it is that you want to savor it only on special occasions and not all the time; otherwise, it quickly loses its status as "favorite," and eventually, it will just taste ordinary...
That's how it is for me with my favorite fragrances - wear them rarely, only then does it have something magical and precious about it!
When I wear Gardenia by Piguet, the noble lily demands a completely different posture from me, and my mood reflects that. I feel incredibly feminine, soft, vulnerable, yet aloof, confident, and proud from head to toe.
I would recommend this wonderful and exquisite fragrance for sniffing to anyone of you who is searching for "the lily." You will certainly not be disappointed!
In this sense, I wish you much joy, fun, sparkle in your eyes, and a sea of emotions while trying and wearing your many wonderful fragrances!

The strange mixture of floral, sweet, and synthetic wood is more off-putting than enjoyable. Indefinable floral with an exhausting sweetness in..

Spatula-creamy floral sweetness on artificial wood mousse in not quite butter-free vanilla sauce. And a faint hint of cream horseradish?

If there are flowers in here, they quickly get overshadowed by a balanced aromatic cashmeran-wood note.

A light, sunny, lively,
mango-fruity gardenia. Nothing heavy or cloying. Fades quite quickly, becoming floral - vanilla-creamy.

Floral spicy top note, lily not sharp, vanilla without pudding, woody leather base with clove, harmonious and not sweet :-)

The namesake gardenia doesn't last long here, quickly fading into a nice sweet-woody tone. Leather? Nope! Too nice!

Gardenia well done. Smells waxy, creamy, and creates a harmonious whole with other ingredients. Leather is very subtle in the background.
