Classy tobacco
Modern kids don't smoke. They vape. So called e-liquids flavored like Cherry Coke, Blueberry Muffin or Vanilla Yoghurt. Perfumery follows a similar trend of bubblegum sweetness. And sadly, even today's tobacco scent are nothing but vape flavors: Vanilla fruity infusions. Sigh. I miss the scent of pipe tobacco, cigarillos, big fat Cubans, Dutch shag and even the spicy Indonesian kretek.

Thankfully, Lyn Harris did not send this perfume down the vape road. Instead, Feuilles de Tabac presents a spicy tobacco without any unnecessary sweetness. Classy and nevertheless modern in terms of sophistication and quality. It features a marvelous opening of brittle dry tobacco leaf, spiced up with pimento. For aficionados of classic tobacco like myself, this is top-notch.

Into the second hour, the dry tobacco starts to fade. Although a more moist tobacco takes over, the magic is lost a bit. At this point I sense some similarity with the drydown of Guerlain's Vetiver. Still very pleasant, of course, just a few steps down from the initial wow.

All in all, a very enjoyable experience. Classy and sophisticated perfume, clearly of high quality. Highly recommended!

Very lovely neck nuzzler
Nice start. Like peeling off the dry leaves from a cigar next to a flowering bush of tobacco flowers and herb bushes nearby. The soft leathery pepper accord blending beautifully with the almost narcotic, spicy flowers. There is a hint of smoke with a cinnamon twist that sharpens to anise or star anise with a clove feel. This is very pleasant and again reminds me of a Serge Lutens style but thankfully missing the dried fruit note. This one succeeds where La Fumee gets too currant bun. On the right man this would lead to almost certain neck snuffling behaviour. Not strident, just very pleasant. this was my favourite out of this little batch tried today.

Dry Aromatic Tobacco Leaves...
What I really love about this one, is that it takes you back to the days when fragrances were good! You know, when you smelt something and it had bite and character to it, like the aromatic fougères and masculines of the past. This is a dark, dry, smoker's scent. I get tobacco leaves being rolled into Cuban cigars... chilli and patchoulli and pine needles, sage and other herbs, underlined with a grassy, dry tonka bean. Almost like tonka flavoured tobacco leaves made for a fine quality cigar.

I also get cloves and hot spices mixed with dry herbs. It's very aromatic, and perfect for colder weather, a great individual scent for a strong personality type. Very distinctive. It's good, it reminds me of older stuff, Old Spice etc. But it has great character and great for smokers and non-smokers alike. Well done Lyn Harris!

A Classical Masculine Fragrance
A fiery camphor like spice coupled with pine is what I get on the opening. Reminds me of that spicy bite in that vintage old spice cologne from decades ago. After the peppery spicy opening a warm tobacco note makes itself known. It's low key and does not overwhelm the composition as other tobacco scents tend to do. If you took a bottle of vintage old spice and mixed it with a vintage bottle of D&G Pour Homme this scent is what I can imagine you would get.

The fragrance gives you the impression of a very classical masculine scent from times gone by. I do like that spicy bite. Longevity is between three to four hours and the scent does stay close to you.

Great woody fresh green fir scent...
The topnotes in Feuilles de Tabac are composed of a clove and incense with hints of pepper and pine opening that starts off with rather singular notes and later ends up in a very harmonious composition of both dry and sweet tobacco and woods. Definitely more masculine than feminine. FdT projects very well in the opening, but later in the drydown it calms to below an arms length. Mostly suited for colder weather and probably very interesting if you're a fan of the original D&G Pour Homme.

This may sound odd, but it reminds me quite a bit of Versace's Dreamer in an up-to-date version without the slight sourness that also follows in Dreamer.

FdT may not be overly daring, but it smells darn nice!

Gentle smell of dry unsweetened tobacco. The spicy opening reminds me of Bel Ami. Then it gets smoky and woody. Predominantly masculine.

Subtle and pleasant. A bit old school with a cologne vibe, I see it more on masculine beings. Stylish in its calmness.
