Underplayed rosey white musk
Hard to explain just how nondescript this is on me. A vaguely rosey white musk, soft and clean.

My nan (born late 1890s) used to have a dab of lavender water on a hanky in her handbag if she was going out and needed to be posh. The strength and inoffensiveness of White Rose reminds me of my dearest darling in her 60s.

I think for my tastes it would be better in EDP if not pure parfum but some of that could be because of there being so much perfume hanging around from laundry and cleaning products, and toiletries that delicate perfumes are swamped.

Now me in my 60s alternates between Aromatics Elixir and TCP. (well it is winter).

Rose at its finest.
White Rose by Floris is truly a rose at its finest, capturing the essence of elegance and purity. It presents the flower in its most exquisite form — subtle, refined, and serenely beautiful. This is an elegant perfume for a lady, enchanting and quietly graceful, radiating timeless charm. It is easy to understand why it is associated with Queen Elizabeth II, as it embodies sheer allure and classic sophistication.

Dreaming English Roses
Today, my dear friend gifted me a rose dream, straight from "my" London.

I float on silky - not soapy - roses over the Tower Bridge, gaze at the gray Thames, and stroll into the upscale Kensington with its well-kept Victorian villas and lush rose gardens.

Austin roses everywhere - and everyone nods and scents me in return.

I see elegant ladies in silk dresses delicately sipping tea in the shelter of the rose hedges, and loving couples whispering sweet nothings to each other.

Iris dusts the scene, and the violet supports the nostalgic roses with a touch of romance.
Beagles frolic under the jasmine and are allowed to play undisturbed.
Life and inner reflection at once.
A painting by Landseer.

Rilke comes to mind:
Rose, oh pure contradiction, desire to be nobody's sleep under so many eyelids.

A Fleeting Rose Dream
"White Rose" reminds me of a soap I smelled in my childhood. It is a very distant memory and also very fragile - just like the scent itself. I remember taking the soap reverently from the drawer of a dresser. It was wrapped in the finest silk paper and lay like a treasure in the drawer. Even wrapped in the paper, it smelled simply heavenly!

In my research, I found out that the "White Rose" soap from Floris still exists today. "White Rose" Eau de Toilette smells just as heavenly, and the slightly greenish liquid in the bottle awakens these memories in me.
But not only these... I close my eyes and immediately hear birds chirping and the rustling of leaves. The air is soft and warm. With "White Rose," I have been beamed into a park. It is not a park in England, no, this park is just a few kilometers from my home. I sit on a wrought-iron bench, and on both sides, there are large rose bushes. When it is completely quiet, you can hear bees and bumblebees. Green notes and white roses dominate the scene. Light as a wingbeat, gentle yet captivating, the scent caresses me. "White Rose" is one of the most beautiful rose fragrances - and also one that is unfortunately quite fragile.

After a short time, the scent develops creamy, while the sillage remains very subtle. Especially in the warm season, "White Rose" can be worn very well. However, the longevity on my dry skin is unfortunately low. Either you enhance it with the matching body lotion - which I have not tried - or you have to reapply more often. I usually dislike that, but with "White Rose," it is not a problem because there is no significant scent evolution. Still, I would wish for more longevity; I find it very unfortunate when something so beautiful dissipates so quickly. Whether the Eau de Parfum is more long-lasting will be difficult to find out, as the EdP has unfortunately been discontinued.

"White Rose" does not have a scent development; it is and remains an elegant, fine, very light rose scent. It is never intrusive, never too much. Very stylish and elegant, simply a dream!

A Rose for Rasputin?
Both England's Queen Victoria and the last Russian Empress Alexandra loved "White Rose"; the current reigning Queen is said to have worn it at her wedding. Three crowned heads surely couldn't be wrong, so I ordered it blindly. The Eau de Parfum was not available to me, so I settled (not at all aristocratic) for the Eau de Toilette. I will spare the interested reader the logistical details of how I came into possession of this little water. However, after the first spray, dismay set in: was that all? For about a quarter of an hour, I smelled nothing at all, then a rather nice creamy white rose scent developed. The rose motor purred for about an hour, then it started to stutter and died.... logically, I had only acquired the two-stroke instead of the four-stroke engine! Still, I was disappointed. And this harmless rose water managed to enchant Grigori Yefimovich Rasputin? After all, according to Boney M., he was the "Lover of the Russian queen" (whatever that means). You wouldn't even lure a Borzoi out from behind a samovar with this!

Undeniably, fragrance preferences have changed massively over time. Never would a lady of the high nobility of that era have thought to spray herself with fecal, urinous, or sweaty smelling perfumes, or other excesses of the fragrance industry.

However, there is indeed a transformation that occurs within me when I wear "White Rose": my upper lip stiffens, I extend my finger while drinking tea, and suddenly I adopt an affected manner of speaking. Fortunately for those around me, this does not last longer than an hour, as long as the scent holds.

Anyone who wants to feel "not perfumed," but clean, well-groomed, and a bit distinguished will surely like this scent. In the long run, however, it is a bit too bloodless for me. After all, I am not a Romanov!

Neat and well-kept English flower garden with many roses. Soapy, fresh, a bit stiff, but lovable and subtle.

The young, delicate, fresh rose with green leaves is lovely until it gets overwhelmed by aldehydes. After that, it becomes more soapy and cloying.

Well composed, but once again too much like a frumpy blouse. Conservative soapy floral scent with a hint of rosy. More governess chic.

A dreamweave of velvety rose petals, violets + iris. Dove-netted, entwined with jasmine, enveloped in amber and musk. Delicately soapy, cool-creamy.
