My title… there’s much more to it than the smiley behind it suggests :D
You know, I LOVE the scent of green notes like plant juices or generally (crushed) leaves. Even as a child, I often stood by bushes, shrubs, or under trees in spring and summer, pulled out a few leaves, crushed them in my hand until they turned into a kind of paste, and really inhaled that rising, green scent! Yes, I was truly addicted! :D
Even today, I catch myself doing something like that from time to time, often unnoticed while walking, since it’s a scent I will probably love forever. For me, this green scent simply belongs to spring and summer, it lifts your spirits, and I also feel that the freshness of the scent and its pleasant aroma just generally make you feel better health-wise (though I would advise against eating it :D Because not only are plant juices usually quite bitter, but you could also poison yourself if you happen to grab toxic leaves… uhh, I should really expand my botanical knowledge… :D). That’s why I also like fragrances with green notes, and Un Jardin sur le Toit by Hermès is one of my favorite green scents that I discovered, even though it’s not purely green but has a somewhat unusual scent.
… now you know what I used to do as a child by the bushes… argh! :D
In any case, such scents are very pleasant for me to wear in summer, so I often like to try this kind of fragrance in the hope of finding something new and nice :)
The scent:
The fragrance starts off beautifully with a sweet and slightly powdery blackcurrant, a hint of pepper, and light green-herbaceous notes, which I attribute to the galbanum, while the green scents (which could have been a bit stronger) also remind me a bit of plant juices, which I particularly like in green notes as described earlier :D
A few minutes later, the pepper becomes a bit stronger, but in my opinion, it remains perfectly dosed to give the scent a slightly tingling spiciness without being overwhelming in the hot summer. I find that it works especially well together with the (actually hardly noticeable) lavender. The sweet-fruity scent of the blackcurrant also slightly increases, providing a pleasant fragrance.
Roses seem to be only faintly present. You can smell them best shortly after spraying, but then they seem to fade away. Although the scent still has a slightly floral background... of course... as always, I can’t really identify what the floral notes are... well :D
In the base, you can smell more of the blackcurrants, which continue to smell fruity and sweet as well as slightly powdery, along with a hint of lavender (which you can now smell better instead of the pepper, although it remains weak). The green notes fade away more and more, which I find a bit unfortunate, but not too bad since the fragrance smells very good overall, from the top note to the later base! It’s clear that the scent becomes weaker and weaker in the later base,… I would reapply the fragrance after about four to five hours.
The sillage and longevity:
The scent has a projection like most light-hearted summer fragrances, so unfortunately, it’s rather low and can only be smelled somewhat closely. So you can spray more of this fragrance than usual.
In terms of longevity, it definitely lasts more than eight hours, which is great for a summer fragrance. Aaaaand: After about four hours, the scent becomes weaker, so I would reapply it after that time to experience the scent more intensely, because it really smells very nice :)
The bottle:
Hmm, in my opinion, the bottle is the real point of criticism here (aside from the weak sillage). Well, the cylindrical thing is certainly not ugly, but it’s just very simple and is merely a plain cylindrical container with the R&G logo and the fragrance name. A noteworthy detail would be the violet ribbon that hangs around the neck and bears the perfumer’s signature.
Oooh, I really liked the scent quite a bit. I especially like the beginning because of the more intense green notes, as it comes across very fresh and is thus perfect for really hot days. But the base also smells very nice, with the difference that the green notes are now a bit weaker and the scent is slightly sweeter than at the beginning, along with a soft, gently powdery note.
In terms of projection or fragrance type, it reminds me of other great summer scents like Fico di Amalfi by Acqua di Parma or a bit like Blackberry Bay by Jo Malone, which I find very lovely. The cassis here also smells a bit feminine like the Fico, but I think it’s still unisex enough to be worn by men as well. At least I hope so… because as I said, the scent is just beautiful! :))
Due to the rather weak sillage, such a fragrance is best used during the day, although… it could also be well received when going out because of the lovely scent, so you might want to reapply it to keep the scent lingering on you longer :D
I definitely give this a test recommendation! Especially because if you want to smell good on hot hot hot days, which isn’t always easy :)
… hmm… now I feel like crushing leaves in my hand like in a mortar and inhaling them… but don’t say anything… you’re all addicted here!!! :D
It’s just unfortunate that the cat is lurking somewhere outside and will come running at me as soon as he sees that I have “something” in my hand… *sigh*
