Fleeting pleasure
Very beautiful scent. Just a hint of ginger, refreshing pomegranate and pretty lychees. Fresh, fruity, gorgeous! Like a tasty summer cocktail. So nice in hot weather, I tried it when it was extremely warm outside and felt refreshed and uplifted. Unfortunately, "Gingembre Rouge" is only an "Eau fraiche" and has no staying-power. It's gone after 10 min. I even applied it during a trip on the train and don't think that the people who sat next to me could smell it. Quite safe and unobtrusive, not hurting anybody's nose for sure, but far too expensive given the poor sillage and extremely bad longevity. Nevertheless wonderful while you perceive it.

Revived with Fruity Ginger Blossom....
At the moment, I have a lot of time since I am still in so-called imposed quarantine after a short hospital stay (Covid19-positive) and waiting for my 3rd (!!) test. During this time, I have been dealing with everything except fragrances. One of the symptoms is supposed to be a limitation of the sense of smell, but that has been functioning continuously, just how well or poorly? No idea.
In any case, I had no desire for anything glamorous or non-essential in the last few weeks. My sense of humor had almost completely abandoned me. I read a lot, ate more consciously (probably also in larger quantities) than usual; made sure that turmeric and ginger could be incorporated into my meals, and imposed my newly acquired knowledge on others.
I have always liked ginger, in every form.
Ginger-heavy fragrances are also part of my portfolio, which has now come to a standstill. My favorites so far have been Five o'Clock by Serge Lutens and Ginger Piccante by Guerlain. The former as a serious fragrance, the latter as a lively summer variant.
So, I decided to tackle an even cheaper ginger fragrance to kill two birds with one stone:
1. Does my nose still work? (R+G's are not known for being heavy hitters.)
2. Is there enough ginger in G-Rouge to delight me?
The answers upfront, then you can skip the rest:
to 1.: Yes
to 2.: No.
Gingembre Rouge / Roger & Gallet (2014) opens with sour-green, rosehip tea-like fresh notes, hinting at a slight, actually ginger-like sharpness after 10 minutes, but - "blink and you miss it" - weak. No, that’s not my nose; I double-checked. This, let’s generously call it "ginger note," changes more and more towards a soapy, clean note. In the background, transparent flowers paint themselves on the wall. Ginger soap and garden show disappear forever after about 30 minutes, making way for nature-identical oranges with a bit of green in the background, which smell skinnily for 1+ hour until I can smell nothing anymore (No, nose works!)
Quintessence: All of this in a stronger, longer-lasting version with about 20 times more ginger, then we can get down to business. But not like this.
Scent sample 1 after C.

Very Delicate Fragrance
Be like the violet in moss... that's how I can describe the scent. Delicate and floral at the beginning, then a bit stronger and somewhat fruitier and fresher. The main note, however, remains the floral delicate accent for me. Yes, and after a short time, there’s a scent on my skin that smells like I’ve stuck my nose into a freshly opened box of laundry detergent. Very delicate and quickly the fragrance is gone again. Nice, proper, not spectacular. Luckily just a sample, because despite all its delicacy, it’s a bit too little for me.

A Tame Pomegranate
I haven't really explored the fragrances from Roger & Gallet yet... maybe I should reconsider that in the months leading up to summer. Because they seem natural, refreshing, affordable & Gingembre Rouge was made for warm days. It's a pity that I've never seen them (consciously) in person. Should that happen, I certainly won't move on without testing.

A red pomegranate in bloom meets a bit of ginger and refreshing citrus splashes. Truly a successful, sprightlier, modern reinterpretation of the brand's bestseller Gingembre, which I also have never had under my nose, but have heard a lot of good things about. It has certainly not remained on the market for so many years without reason. Back to the "red ginger": pomegranate, as mentioned, as the main actor, just enough ginger to justify the name and a bit of lemon and a bit of sugar - Voila, a lightly feminine refreshment. Polite, zesty, and bright red.

Sillage, longevity & bottle: a meager score of 25%, as all 3 categories are really only minimally fulfilled.

Conclusion: even though you often have to reapply: this subtle Morillas breeze certainly offers a reason to continue exploring the brand. Truly an effortlessly successful leisure fun! A longer comment isn't possible due to its simple nature... but it doesn't always have to be complicated.

I've been using this gem for three summers now and it's a perfect fresh fruity ginger deal. You must reapply but it is a pleasure to do so.

Fruity-balsamic with a fizzy touch, it's a perfect reinvigorating water to wear in every season.
Only too evanescent for its mid-high price

I find the lightness of the pomegranate-ginger water beautifully refreshing - sometimes that's all you need.

I had this before my Parfumo time and now I've got a sample again. Even back then, I thought the scent was really great...

A little fruity-citrusy refreshment in spring for ginger fans. But: reapplying is really a must here!

I had several scents from this brand as testers. This one stuck with me the least. Maybe because it doesn't last long.
