Shadowy, husky-voiced patchouli. Very film noir, very rockabilly. Quintessential femme fatale scent. If Gold Spot is the Bond Girl, Leopard is the villainess. She opens prickly and spicy, but the dry down reveals a dulcet honeyed rose. The effect of sweetness swaying behind shadow – a flame-red flower snarled in deepest jungle – is marvellous, even though I can’t claim to have any fondness for patchouli or animalics. I’m very sensitive to animal notes, but fortunately didn’t catch much beyond a dank, leathery musk. (Compared to Riders, which delivered the whole Thoroughbred). Lasts all night on skin and is not shy about it, either. A fragrance I’d file under: wouldn’t trust in my house, but would love to watch in the wild. If this is your daily frag, I want to know how many heads of state you’ve stepped on.
