Ill understood fragrance but one of my favourite Lutens scent !
This fragrance suffered from two things : its price and being the quieter sibling of the Section d'Or collection.
I discovered the Section d'Or collection early this year at le Palais Royal boutique. I tried the few references they had left: l'Incendiaire, Cracheuse de Flammes, Renard Constrictor.
I enjoyed Cracheuse and Renard a lot but Renard Constrictor felt so muted. The SA told me to give Renard Constrictor some time and try it outside. And I saw its magic then : a beautiful white floral scent (but without those heady notes that can annoy me), with resinous and piney notes. So classy, complex and simple at the same time. Notes are not fully disclosed but I smell some jasmine, orange blossom (but more the astringent type not the honeyed type), some resins and something piney/woody. You can smell the amazing quality of the ingredients and the jasmine concrete.
I usually never buy a fragrance without sampling it extensively beforehanrd and I have rarely spent that much on a perfume (480€ for a 50ml extrait). I really feel that this scent is way too expensive. But gosh it brings me so much pleasure and comfort each that it is priceless. It is one of my dumb reach.
