I just can't figure it out!

Yes, this 08/15 base that you keep finding nowadays is getting on my nerves! I should have known better when I read Tonka and Amber in the fragrance pyramid, but I was blinded by the violets, which I like both as a flower and as a pastille. Well, those who don't want to learn have to smell!

Apeiron somehow starts right with the base, sweet, powdery, the violet is only a faint hint of the pastille and unfortunately has nothing to do with the delicate flower for me. I can't detect the licorice at all. Over the next 8-9 hours, Apeiron becomes increasingly dull, but hardly loses any sweetness - Amber and Tonka, after all.

Holidays at Grandma's

This year, I mainly tested amber scents, so the opportunity to try Áperion came at just the right time.
I already like amber and tonka, and I have no issues with licorice as long as it doesn't dominate; the big unknown was the violet - I have never been fond of floral scents.

As a child, I always went to my grandparents during the summer holidays, who lived in the seaside town where I was born and rented out rooms to holiday guests in their house.
For these guests, my grandma always placed small soaps with violet scent in the rooms, so they had a new soap available and didn't have to use the soap of the previous guest.
The leftovers were then used up in the grandparent's household.

Upon the first application (dabbing), I was greeted with exactly this scent that those soaps emitted back then, but it was softened by the licorice so that it didn't become too floral or soapy. I hardly noticed the licorice itself; it stayed very much in the background.
After about 3 hours of the violet dominating the scene, it gradually retreated to make room for the amber and tonka bean, from here on my preferences were perfectly met.

In the second test (sprayed), things looked a bit different.
Here too, the violet dominates, but gives the licorice more space, and it feels overall airier and more transparent. The base starts to come through after just 2 hours and is occasionally wafted over by the violet during the third hour until it has exhausted itself and completely withdraws.

Ápeiron has a nostalgic touch due to the violet but remains a rather modern scent. I find it to be rather calm without being quiet.
For my taste, there could have been less violet; whether it will annoy me in the long run or if I can warm up to it will be shown by time, so for now, there is no rating.
For the base alone, I would have given 90%...

The longevity is good at 8-9 hours.

For me, it should rain blue violets...

I was very curious about this fragrance for two reasons:
1. I love amber
2. I am skeptical about violets due to strong retro associations, but I generally like them

As can be read in the thread, I already got a good impression of the scent before opening the package. However, I of course tested it thoroughly on my skin, as one should.

My first impression was not the licorice, but the violet. Very authentic and pure, yet by no means modest, as it beautifully says in the verse for the poetry album. This violet has a loud, proud presence. It almost felt like too much for me, but just almost. Tonatto has managed to perfectly master the balancing act between 'strong' and 'overbearing'. The licorice is already present, but it clearly plays second fiddle here. It does not feel undervalued, but rather adds its fine spiciness in a beautifully balanced way.

This composition remains perceptible for about two hours before the scent changes, first imperceptibly, then noticeably. Amber makes its appearance and, together with a hint of tonka, adds a creamy and almost cuddly sweetness, along with a tiny hint of smoke.
Thus, the fragrance lasts a good eight to nine hours on me before it fades away.

For me, Ápeiron is a vintage scent in an exciting, modern interpretation. A perfume far removed from the mainstream uniformity that is constantly encountered today. The sillage is very pronounced, but due to the skillful composition, it is not intrusive. I would see Ápeiron as more feminine, but I can imagine that a bold man would also enjoy it.

The bottle is difficult for me to evaluate - also for reasons that can be gleaned from the thread. I find it very beautiful and simple, and I generally like balloon atomizers. However, there was this leaking issue, although we might have just gotten a Monday bottle.

All in all, Ápeiron is a wonderful, very interesting fragrance that will most likely find a place in my collection.

Synthetic-chemical powdery opening,
that comes off a bit scratchy.
Slightly gourmand with tonka,
