Yes, yes, yes folks, I know what you’re thinking when I choose such titles, right? The Don Juan de Cat again, with his bizarre fantasies. But look, doesn’t the name of the fragrance sound like a Greek beauty from antiquity, lightly and airily hopping through the radiant sun? No? Well, let’s see what or who Olyssia is. Hmm… according to the description, Olyssia is the name of an Italian princess… ahaaaa! So it’s a woman after all! I knew it! Well, well? What do you say now? :DD Alright, let’s move on.
The name Olyssia is composed of two words, namely Olivia and Delicacy. Olivia was chosen based on the olive trees from the region of this princess’s ancestors, and Delicacy is supposed to describe the sweet life in this region. Combining both terms gives us Olyssia. And it is said that when this princess walks by, she would awaken the senses, and the light would be dimmed and… WHAT? The LIGHT would be dimmed? Uh, why on earth??? So please… THIS is really the official fragrance description and you complain to ME when I write such things?? Tsss…
But: I was right with my gut feeling, just with the difference that I thought of a Greek woman instead of an Italian one.
Alright, now that that’s settled, let’s get to the fragrance description… and never complain to me again when I write such things or describe various fantasies, mu ha ha ha :D
The Fragrance:
The fragrance starts off very fresh and refreshing with oranges that smell like a bitter orange peel, which actually smells good. There are also slightly sweet (and also slightly sour) mandarins, which are very nicely done, although the mandarins are weaker than the oranges. A little orange blossom is added, and you have a beautiful, fresh top note that also comes across as sparkling.
Later, you can quite clearly smell the gently sweet jasmine, while the citrus notes become a bit weaker, with the orange blossoms now being the most noticeable of these notes.
For a while, the fragrance radiates almost only jasmine and orange blossoms until the base becomes a little more floral. This makes the fragrance a bit more humid, but it still remains nice.
From now on, the fragrance doesn’t really change anymore, as you can almost only smell the floral notes and the orange blossoms. The flowers smell sweet and do not become any more humid, but remain pleasant and slightly powdery. The fragrance doesn’t offer much variety, but overall it smells quite nice.
The Sillage and Longevity:
The sillage is okay for a citrus-fresh fragrance. It’s not a knockout that you could smell from miles away, but at least it’s not too close either. The longevity is about six to seven hours, after which it has almost completely disappeared from the skin.
The Bottle:
The bottle is inflated and filled with yellowish fragrance liquid. On the front, it has a label that shows a nice drawing of orange blossoms alongside the name. The cylindrical cap appears to be made of brushed metal and has been gilded. A beautiful bottle.
Conclusion:
So, first of all: The fragrance starts off really wonderfully. It is citrusy and fresh and smells of great oranges. Thus, the fragrance is quite refreshing at first, especially on warm days. Later, it becomes more floral and somewhat humid, but it’s still not really heavy, so this fragrance represents a spring and summer scent for me.
It may lack a bit of variety and really doesn’t offer anything new, but it still has a nice scent, so it might be worth a look if you like fresh and citrusy fragrances as well as floral-sweet perfumes.
While the beginning is fresh, I would actually recommend the middle part or the base for going out, unfortunately, the sillage doesn’t do much there, as the fragrance quickly becomes weaker and doesn’t last particularly long. Thus, it remains more of a day/work fragrance, which isn’t a bad thing.
And that’s it. I can’t think of anything else right now, because if I think any longer, images of the Italian princess who is supposed to awaken the senses come to mind… and if I start rambling about certain things, then I’m once again to blame for everything or I’m seen as the pig here, right? Bah… :D
Okay, even if you complain, I still wish you all a nice evening, see you next time!
