Arcadian cleanliness
Hegoa by Teo Cabanel is a really nice, delicate, clean floral scent of the “white-rosey-greenish” family, with a juicy heart of rose and tea – really recognisable and well executed, a simple and graceful combo well blended with the cozy warmth of amber and vanilla. That’s it. It feels “small and cozy” like a small cottage in the countryside, with a feel of peace and unpretentious refinement all over. And also, quite “childlike” somehow: for some reasons – I guess its bright and gentle “white-roseness” together with the intimate sweetness of tea and amber – Hegoa smells really lively, carefree, “innocent” and slightly naif – like one of those vintage illustrations of country children playing with cats you see on tin cans for biscuits or coffee. “Arcadian”, if that makes sense. A bit dull and cutesy perhaps (and overall not that far from some designer scents playing the same chords), but really pleasant and nice to wear.

Unexpected Humanity
'Hegoa' connects two very different sides in a calm manner. At the start, a citrus hint leads into a fragrant wavering that is more green than rose, yet also rosier than green tea. As it develops, the fruity aspect remains a watery-light, almost cucumber-like suggestion. The anemic fruit is further contributed to by the not particularly intrusive rose, which makes up at least half of the scent.

I suspect that the fragrance takes advantage of the tea-like quality of magnolia or rather its laboratory aroma relatives. In any case, it smells similar to the flowers of my summer magnolia. Nevertheless, the drink is quite decent. Green tea with peach perhaps. Regarding the spicy notes, I initially think of coriander, possibly lemongrass, all soft and mild. The thought of a slight "sting" in olive oil also fits - see KingLui's statement.

Around noon, a bright-clean musk aura spreads, clouded with rosy-floral-soapy notes. It reveals a distinctly noticeable final claim, and I almost want to dismiss the fragrance as "too sweet," when suddenly a warm, human spice reminds me of cumin. Underneath, there is indeed an unexpected pep that accompanies me from now on; later it shifts to noble sweet paprika. Or aged rose paprika.

This certainly doesn't knock me off my seat personally, but it turns out to be less innocent as it progresses than initially thought.

I thank Ergoproxy for the sample.

When Life is a Gift
There are days when time seems to stand still, unwilling in its progress, casting a longing glance back and inclined to retrace its steps, just a few moments only, before the moment passes, before it sets in motion again.
Days when the sun shines more golden than it should, the sky is bluer than the season warrants, the air softer and silkier than is fitting for the end of October.
Days that deny the approaching cold, dark, wet season, drawing a radiant, protective curtain between the now and the later, our eyes shining and allowing the worries of everyday life to be forgotten for a long, dreamy, beautiful heartbeat.
Days like yesterday, days like today.

Lightness, carefreeness, and a warm, deep, wonderful feeling of joy for life, of gratitude for this unexpected gift permeated those two late October days that felt like young May.
Unthinkable to carry a spicy oriental, a full-bodied gourmand, an olfactory herald on days like these - bright and fine, delicate and cheerful should my companion be, underscoring the magic of these days, whose nature must have been so fragile, so fleeting.
Was it chance that placed "Hegoa" in my hand during my blind reach into the sample box?

Infinitely delicate hesperidic accords open, immediately marrying with bright flowers to an unexcitedly cheerful, friendly "Good Morning!", free of any piercingly bitter freshness that so often accompanies a citrusy start.
A smile spreads without my intervention, reaching the eyes, wiping away the shadows of the night - a moment later, tea is served, green tea, subtly bitter with a hint of lemon, fine and refreshing, stimulating the mind and at the same time calming.
Slowly the flowers retreat, the tea comes more into focus, finely bitter and delicately fruity, less feminine now and still quiet, still close to me, my steps light, my forehead kept free.
Thus "Hegoa" accompanies me on my way, blending imperceptibly with silky smooth air, with the scent of fallen leaves, with the grass beneath my head, with my skin warmed once more by the sun - and fades after four hours into a whisper of white, powdery-soft musk.

Tea, interwoven with citrus notes. Underneath, I perceive the woody notes rather than the rose. I think I smell cedar. Very nice.

This could become a summer evergreen. Dull lemon peel and strong green tea. Herb-fresh. Later, a sour-green note comes in...

Green tea with citrus splashes and refined with some floral notes. Cultivated calmness. Not groundbreaking but very wearable.

Green notes + rose + slightly smoky tea create a cheerful-fresh scent profile. Musk rounds it off nicely. Far from just green-fresh, great.

The teen notes are very prominent. Strong resemblance to Valentino Rosa Verde. Herb Fresca also comes to mind.

Green tea with lemongrass. Don’t steep too long and drink quickly before the cheeky musk throws a piece of soap into the cup.

Subtle 90s floral notes (even though much younger), delicate citrus meets green tea in the Lissy Arden style. Nice in itself - but for me, unfortunately, always "dull."
