Subtly Missed

"Meloe" by Teo Cabanel is one of the lightest and most understated fragrances I've had under my nose in a long time...

The idea of a melon. The hint of a melon. The shadow of a melon. The thesis of a melon. Super simple, very monothematic, very quickly gone. If it was even there at all. Melon without melon. Flesh without spirit. Grassy and pleasing. Surely an okay companion on ultra-hot days. But it gives me too little. Very boring. Although never a stinky scent, quite the opposite. And achieving such neutrality and naturalness with a melon is no small feat. Still underwhelming.

Bottle: a highlight!
Sillage: extremely transparent and airy
Longevity: after just 4 hours, hardly anything is left to sense...

Conclusion: passive and light melon scents hardly come any lighter... Green, defensive, watery, barely there. Not unpleasant, but unexciting.

The True Touch of Freshness and Melons in Meloe

Yes, undeniably, the scent of watermelons (I’m guessing Melonal) in Meloe is unmistakable, and I usually don’t like particularly fresh perfumes, and Melonal definitely not for me... but this scent here lies on my skin like a fresh, pleasant breeze, not unpleasant at all, no, very very lovely. These are the little wonders of high perfumery; there’s always a surprise, and occasionally such a pleasant one. Since I first tried this little fragrance four years ago, it has been a staple in my summer morning scents.

Glad that this blind purchase didn't work out,

I would still like to thank Michelangela for allowing me to test it with a sample.

Méloé develops on my skin so weakly that at times I had the impression it was no longer present. I had to almost stick my nose into my skin to smell anything at all.

What I can smell is a very weak and light jasmine scent, initially a bit green upon application, but very quickly it becomes just very, very faintly scented jasmine blossoms, as if on a branch with 5000 flowers only two have opened and the others are still dozing in bud form.

After about an hour and a half, the whole thing is over, and I can only perceive that there once was a little fragrance at that spot on my skin.

I am all the more happy that I accidentally received OHA with my blind purchase of Méloé. I can gladly do without Méloé, especially at that price!

It's a pity, if the components mentioned in the pyramid had a bit more power, this could be a really lovely scent. As it is, it's just a lukewarm fragrance.

Addendum 20.10.11: Since I had the opportunity to test Méloé a second time today, I of course did. Let's see if it packs a punch this time. Unfortunately, no luck, once again it is gone after 45 minutes. Nice, but nothing impactful!

I Have Seen the Sun!

Now, a sunbeam alone does not make a summer, and for today, August 1st '11, this little bit of sun is frighteningly little, but one has become modest.. Méloé is suitable for intensifying the feeling of "summer" a bit!
The top note strongly reminds me of an AdP Colonia, I just can't recall which one at the moment, very citrusy-fresh and sour-fruity.
It's me - the Italian fruit orchard!
The heart note is still Mediterranean, the jasmine gives a big impression but does not take the scepter for itself. It remains floral-fresh for now.
The wood and musk are practically nonexistent; even after a long wear phase, I only sense a spicy, slightly floral freshness.
Great summer all-rounder that brings good mood!
