Barkhane Téo Cabanel 2013

I initially perceived the scent as a warm, wet, and sticky take on cedar —which, duh, was actually the resinous notes coming to the forefront. It's a bit spicy too, but surprisingly softer than you'd expect. I'm not a fan of spicy scents, so this felt tolerable. I will also commend Barkhane for not taking cumin in a BO-direction. In due time, the resins wear away and you're left with an inoffensive ambery musk. I can see the comparison to Cafe Cabanel, but Cafe Cabanel has my heart, hands down.

Side note: my BF said it made me smell like unworn clothes left in the closet :(

This is beautiful — warm, dry spicy woods that have given many people around me the impression that I am wearing a sandalwood perfume, though no sandalwood is listed in the notes. It is much less of an amber than the analysis on Fragrantica suggests (an analysis that persuaded me to purchase this in my ongoing search for my perfect amber fragrance!) —rather, there are “ambery facets” precisely as the reviewer below notes. which bloom at times and just slightly sweeten the dryness of the sandalwood impression. I most recently tested this before bed, and woke up with the sandalwoody scent on my pillow — lovely! It is fairly light and transparent for a scent built partly on resins, reminding me a little of Tam Dao in that respect and in its dry-woods effects, but has good lasting power on me.

Attention spicy and oriental fragrance fans!!! : don't miss testing this gem.
I would describe it as warm, spicy, and woody with ambery facets.
It doesn't perform beastly but stays with you for a few hours, and I feel the scent is so good that I wouldn't mind it not staying for a long time. In cold weather, it will kindly envelop you like a warm wool blanket. I would spray my scarf with this and enjoy it to the fullest as I spend my time with it.
It's not so formal. You can wear it with not-so-formal clothes on a date in the evening or when you visit your loved ones during the day.

"Bharkane" starts promisingly citrusy, fruity, and woody. Above all, the woody and a spicy floral scent blend into the citrus notes. Then, an aromatic resinous quality develops underneath, very pleasant. Oud is subtle and only makes a brief appearance at the beginning as a soloist to greet.
I wonder what the mention of geranium could mean, and I think of the wonderfully fragrant geranium that I get every spring, which blooms tirelessly all summer and is frozen by the first frost.
Yes, this is a scent that has something cinnamon-like and spicy with a distinct floral note that is hard to describe; it’s just not summer. Rose scent? Perhaps.
Everything about this fragrance is right. It becomes lovely, spicy, smoky after an initial harsh woodiness, even a slight sweetness I perceive. "Bharkane" is a multifaceted fragrance. Unfortunately, from time to time, there is an unpleasant brief scent sequence. Something intrudes that does not create harmony with the other ingredients.
If the mentioned curry note refers to curry herb, then that is the disharmony. Because this clouding of the otherwise clear fragrance always begins with a straw-like phase. Curry herb smells like that to me.
This lasts about 2 hours; the disturbances become less frequent and weaker.
For a longer time, "Bharkane" is a successful fragrance for me - but? Wait! That certain unharmonious scent accord returns very slightly. Then "Bharkane" transforms into a somewhat dry woody scent - for a while, before refreshing itself again with citrus, spice, and floral notes.
Wood and resin always remain as scent notes.
"Bharkane" somewhat reminds me of "Rundholz" and similar fragrances, although it is fresher. "Bharkane" is an autumn and winter scent, and I agree with the classification as a unisex fragrance.
The longevity is good, at least 5 hours, and the sillage is rather subtle.
