Traditional Musk with Surprising Fascinating Twists
The idea of Terres Dorées Origine series, created by Louis Cardelli, was to make three EDTs inspired by the origins of modern perfume: eau de colognes. Origines perfumes are a fresh and a bit more complex interpretation of the traditional cologne smells. Musc Imperial is the most original and surprising fragrance of the series. It was inspired by the first perfumes made by Egyptians, which I find very interesting and exciting.

The opening is surprisingly citrusy and also somehow sweet, the combination is almost like bittersweet. The thyme and geranium notes are also very present giving a nice aromatic-herbal touch. The drydown is a special contradictory combination of very straightforward dry dark smoky musk and bright orange blossom with a hint of sweet vanilla. The musk smells indeed very traditional here but with a very complex twist. I'd say it might even be polarizing to some, personally I find it unique and super fascinating.

Wearing musk forward and very animalic fragrances is sometimes a little bit challenging for me but this one is such a great special occasion perfume. In terms of sillage and longevity this fragrance is definitely not a "cologne" because it's very strong and lasts longer than most EDPs. A great choice for dark cold nights, probably even for Halloween, or pairing it with a leather jacket when going to a metal concert.
