A Balanced Citrus Vetiver...
I really like this version of Grey Vetiver. I actually find the original a little formal (still a good thing) although I find this more versatile for warmer and hot weather.

I love the brightness of the grapefruit, lemon and bergamot. I think that pairing citrus with vetiver works and, although it's not an original combination, it's very well done here. I think that for versatility I would recommend this over the Eau de Parfum, however for value for money (in terms of lasting power etc), then the original lasts longer. I would suggest wearing this version year round as it's very versatile. For very formal wear and colder/winter weather the Eau de Parfum. I tend to like citrus very much and I love the way it's done here (it even almost reminds me of a cross between the original Grey Vetiver and Terre d'Hermès). The original is both more woody and more spicy, however this has it's own charm. I would suggest it for any age range and all seasons. A good offering from Tom Ford.

A fresh and pleasant vetiver.
Gray Vetiver is a simple, gallant and clean, well balanced aroma, there are no disparate or discordant notes that unlike, on the contrary, everything is like a calm sea. impeccable. The start is fresh and light, with a refreshing and natural vetiver surrounded by citrus fruits, grapefruit is ready here, but it smells more like peel or lemon zest, yes, ephemeral, natural and realistic, the quality of ingredients is noticeable . Then, I feel some orange blossom, but dimly and thoroughly, still fresh. In a short time, the aroma becomes woody and even a resinous and sweet tad, but nothing flashy, keeping the vetiver on a somewhat warmer background. A refined and classic aroma, which moves away from my tastes in perfumery, but, not for that reason, I cease to recognize its worth as a perfume.

A perfume of timeless, elegant and sober fragrance, with a great handicap, its price. I think there are better Vetiver and at half the price of this, I do not deserve it, on the contrary, it is fine and fresh, but not better than the Guerlain vetiver or the discontinued Puig Vetiver, the best of all in my humble opinion, but if you can afford it and it is to your liking, go ahead, it is not bad.

Of moderate duration, no more than 6 hours, with a good wake in the first hours and then happens to be close to the skin. Recommended for warm or temperate climates and preferably during the day.

Super classy
Strong but pleasant vetiver. Musk mixed with oak moss eludes you at first, you will think "this is a fougere". After 15 minutes, a subtle citrus aroma takes shape and makes this perfume have a vibe very similar to that of Terre D'Hermès. Getting to the heart notes, with its strong projection already slightly attenuated, the perfume warms up with the notes of nutmeg, amber and pepper, very noticeable.

This perfume is more spicy on my skin, with vétiver, nutmeg and pepper (strong here) predominating, and something incensed that lasts almost all the time with vétiver. The bottom is more woody and ambery. It is reasonably light, but dry, even though it has a slightly soapy tone - but rich soap - which gives a good feeling of cleanliness.

It is exquisite, something more formal, modern (although the note of vétiver is the protagonist, it does not have that masculine perfume of the 80s). A very masculine perfume, powerful and "sexy without being vulgar". Good in terms of aroma, projection and fixation. It can be an alternative for those who do not like Terre because it is very citrusy or Encre Noire because it is very heavy but still likes the note of vetiver leading a fragrance.

I think it falls best in milder weather. It is a masterpiece.

Business scent for Business Men doing business
I have had this same 50ml bottle for over ten years. And I constantly think of getting rid of it, I’ll think to myself that I will have one final wear of it then I’ll sell of swap it.

Then after precisely 67mins of wearing it, I’ll think “Ack-shully…”.

I remember buying this in an airport and for some reason that is the perfect place to buy this scent. If I had sampled this in a normal shop I would have dismissed it. There’s some very ‘Duty Free’ about this fragrance. Is it the corner of the airport experience that truly delivers the ‘glamour of air travel’ that we’ve been told/sold over the decades that doesn’t really truly live up the hype.

No. I think it’s because this scent brilliantly encapsulates the thing I had asked the sales assistant for, when he asked “What are you looking for?” I just said “Something I can wear in the office at work, y’kno a very work like scent…but kinda sexy work”

He went off and came back with the 50ml bottle I’m looking at right now, again considering if I should get rid of it. Oddly enough because I want a different corporate scent and because I don’t work in an office anymore (which I kind of miss).

I would’ve loved to seen the brief for this fragrance. I can just imagine the words ‘Vetiver’ and ‘oakmoss’ being underlined. I just imagine that the picture of early 80s business men in tan, grey, silver and blue suits pointing at either blueprints or a graph would’ve been used. There’s a deft sexiness about this that’s more toned down than everything else offered by Tom Ford, I kind think his early signature line aimed toward men wore like this. Just slightly sexy not like the fragrances aimed at women.

This is the smell of Christopher Reeves’ Clark Kent but this Clark Kent, realised some time ago that he the oakie-doke country bumpkin schtick only holds up if you want to attract dowdy matrons and the eternally frustrated love-lorn

the abercrombie special
citrusy, green, aromatic, and woody. smells of lemon, grapefruit, pine, and vetiver.

the initial burst of this fragrance is tart, sweet citrus and a beautiful, coniferous, woods with a rich and beautiful vetiver. it is a clean and fresh woods/vetiver scent, deeply refined and "safe". it reminds me of a very classic early 2000s cologne, the ones that are sold with black and white advertisements of shirtless men.

The vetiver theme is a bit same old same old. But if you must, then this is a pretty decent option. Modern, clean and functional.

It didn't convince me because of the glazed lemon note... that sweet lemon doesn't fit my brain.

Clean soapy vetiver, very easy and linear, not bad but nothing special.
