US Navy Memories
Some of my favorite memories are of my time in the Navy, standing on the topside of a submarine in the middle of the Ocean. A spec in the vastness of nature. That is what I'm reminded of with this photo realistic aquatic. Oud Minerale is unlike any other aquatic in my collection or any that I've ever smelled for that matter. It makes the average aquatic seem... well average. Like quick lap in a pool compared to a full day at the beach. Both have their place, but one is an experience. Where most aquatics are easy grab citrus bombs that quickly fade into nothingness, Oud Minerale is a hyper performer with great projection and even better staying power that dictate it be worn with a purpose. Much like the Navy, this won't be for everyone. Hell, as a kid from the inner city it might not have been for me without the memories it evoked. That said, brilliant fragrance. 10/10

As the name implies, Oud + Mineral with a marine backdrop
Wow, quite an experience. Oud Minerale is quite unique for an aquatic fragrance. Contrary to some of the reviews below, it didn't strike me as a knock out aquatic or marine scent. I did get a rather strong turpentine type of scent initially. It pulled back as the oud became more prominent, but not stand out either. After it settled, I'd describe it as oud/mineral with the marine/aquatic component coming in third. Even with the oud, Oud Minerale comes across as quite fresh, so it would work well on hot days. And yet, I'm testing it in winter and it's totally in place in the cold weather. Very versatile, very masculine. Longevity is quite good, while the projection is moderate. Projection would probably be better in warmer weather.

Summer masterpiece
I recently picked up a 85/100ml 2nd hand bottle of this for 80€ (retail is 190€). I wasn’t sure on the scent when I first smelt it (only on wrist) so I almost didn’t buy it, because I have a tendency to buy things that are a “good deal” and than they sit. Thankfully here I said “what the heck” and bought it. Im so thankful I did. I always had issues with summer fragrances. I tend to find them uninspiring and very boring. Its either deodorant like or a citrus bomb, but thiss….This is by far the best tom ford Ive tried. When you actually wear this and not just spray it on wrist and take a whiff you get so much more out of it, so wear it when you try it. You wont get the right idea if you don’t . This to me is ocean in a bottle. Its fresh, green, aromatic and deep with this amazing salty smell enveloping it and making it flow beautifully from the top to the base. You also get a tad of this almost rotten smell in this, that you also get from the sea, so I can understand people who don’t like it, but if you love the smell of the ocean this is sensational. It also stays on skin forever it doesn’t project massively, only in the first 3 hours, after that it becomes a skin scent and as a skin scent it lasts and lasts. Not long ago, I wore this in the evening when me and me girlfriend went on a date and she still smelt it on me the next morning at around 10am and asked me if I woke up earlier and took a shower because I smelt so nice. This will definitely be my go to scent for this warm weather season.

Sea spray, sand and pebbles, but no oud in sight...
Oud Minérale opens with a sea spray note that is iodised and mineral, like sand and pebbles by the sea, which strongly reminds me of the similar accords in L'Artisan Parfumeur Un Air de Bretagne and Hermès Eau des Merveilles Bleue, both released in the same as Oud Minérale.

However, unlike the other two that breath air into this sea spray accord with sparkling citrus, Oud Minérale is sturdy and relentless, without much else to support the iodised accord. As I'm not that into marine accords in general, this head-on crash with the sea spray opening does not appeal to me personally.

As this mineral and marine accord mellows with time, other nuances begin to make themselves known starting from the 2nd hour, with predominantly the aromatic pepperiness and fresh aquatic cucumber ebbing and waning from time to time. All of these rests on an abstract and very lightweight resinous woody base, and I don't recognise any oud in natural or popular synthetic reconstructions.

Oud Minérale then just keeps getting more nebulous and becomes a slightly salty, abstract skin scent. The longevity is at least 7 hours, while the sillage is mostly close to skin.

As a new generation of aquatic/marine fragrances, the mineral sand/pebbles effect itself is quite refreshing to the genre. However, after smelling three marine fragrances with this very similar accord in a row, while Oud Minérale is certainly adequate, I did not find it significantly more interesting than the other two. A rich oud could have been a very interesting, if not challenging, companion to the marine accord, But instead, Oud Minérale plays safe and lays a vague, soft woody base.

If you're looking for a slightly masculine, iodised marine fragrance and has less limit on budget, you may want to try Oud Minérale. However, I would not recommend it as an oud fragrance, because it plays only a minor role at best in this fragrance.

Don´t expect this to be the Oud Wood!!
So here goes my first review for a perfume here on Parfumo so please be patient with me :D, I was excited when i knew that i had the chance to try this perfume. I really love the Oud Wood and expected of course this to be similar, but don´t get fooled. To my nose, Oud Minérale is a peppery, salty woody/oudy, (not s strong oud note but detectable), which could be used in spring and summer weather in my opinion. It´s a nice clean fragrance, but not the same creamyness like Oud Wood has. Me personlly prefer OW!!

Interesting mix of marine freshness and woody, lightly stinky oud.
Musky, somewhat damp base; tame balsamic support. Not bad, but still odd

Waterlogged oud wood on the rocky shore of a dense fir forest; slightly smoky, not animalic in the slightest. Thoughtful and contemplative.

Smoky woods, salty sea breeze and marine minerals evoke a cold, windswept dockside in a bottle. Unconventional yet divisive.

Dropping a couple hundred bucks to smell like swamp water is insane to me

Good fragrance! I recommend testing it, for the completely unusual construction, for the performance and for the varied interpretations.

Oud gives this funky aquatic freshie depth and character. Versatile with excellent performance, but the scent may not be for everyone

Authentic smelling sea water, well combined with dense tart, slightly fruity notes. Rather masculine, stylish & nice to wear.

It’s different but its just too weird. Aquatic fresh, leather, oud. Smells like a grandpa in a leather jacket doing backstrokes in the ocean

This is weird, both fresh and aquatic but dark and musky at the same time. Like a cold, wet dock. Not sure when to wear it.
