Mini Love Ulric de Varens

How much fragrances can change... At first I was a huge fan of this fragrance. I finished about two bottles, but when I bought the third and, to be sure, a fourth bottle, I became suspicious and was no longer a fan. At first it smelled to me like a sweeter Amor Amor without vanilla, which I loved since I used to wear the original a lot! But the fragrance changed quite considerably. The balanced fruitiness faded, and all that was left was a cheap cherry blossom and a sour cranberry. An overly sour cranberry. Its sudden dominance ruined the fragrance for me. Only every now and then can I tolerate it. I think this really is one of those fragrances that’s only good for freshening up the toilet. Where did the bestseller go!?

I was 13/14 years old when I discovered this perfume (at DM). It was simply the only perfume I could afford with my pocket money. I gradually bought the entire mini collection. Mini Love remained my favorite - and I have honestly repurchased it at least 15 times. It fit perfectly in my handbag/school bag. ALL the girls in my circle wore this scent and the boys liked it - that was the most important thing back then :D Things like longevity or sillage weren't a topic yet. The main thing was sweet, floral, and affordable. Also, the fact that everyone wore the same scent wasn’t a big deal. You didn’t want to "stand out" from the crowd yet - you didn’t need a unique fragrance that people would remember. The scent has never left my collection - purely out of nostalgia, of course. I spray it on some days in the bathroom - connected with beautiful memories.

Right off the bat: I don't think I've ever had such a strange association with any other fragrance as I do with "Mini Love".
The scent totally reminds me of sweet, yet slightly tart cranberry juice mixed with baby cream (the thick, solid diaper cream, mind you) and then a little splash of "Le Male". :D
The cranberry juice in my mind probably comes from the interplay of the cranberries with the grapefruit, but baby cream and "Le Male"? I can still smell it.

I perceive the scent as fruity-sweet with a slight powderiness, which actually falls into my "preferred profile", but unfortunately, this specific combination just doesn't appeal to me at all.
I find the scent to be intrusive and, unfortunately, "cheap-smelling". "Mini Purple" was also a candidate like that, but it went in a different direction.
With "Mini Love", I consistently detect a slight alcohol note, which, in combination with this sweet fruitiness, probably gives me that strange "cheap" impression. I own many inexpensive drugstore fragrances, and apart from these two from the mini line, I have never had such a "cheap-synthetic" impression.

However, the scent seems to develop strangely only for me, as it still seems to be doing well and is still available after years, while "Mini Purple" thankfully got discontinued quite quickly.

Since this baby cream note does have something to it, I occasionally use a spritz on my wrists before going to sleep. I've noticed that when I quickly rub the scent between my wrists (which I never do!), the fruitiness disappears quickly and the baby cream note comes out even stronger.

Another fragrance from the mini series!

Just like Mini Sexy, Mini Love is also very sweet. While Mini Sexy gives the impression of a cloyingly sweet mishmash of indefinable scent notes, Mini Love presents itself, in my opinion, much more precisely. Although I couldn't identify any specific fruits or flowers, I felt that I was getting great value for my money here (and this fragrance is very affordable anyway). Because Mini Love smells deliciously sweet without giving the impression of a cheap scent. It comes across as playful and tasty, just as one would expect. However, one might want to skip it after a certain age.

All in all, one can say that it is a nice little companion for on the go that one can easily indulge in.
