The Tiger is Close!!!
Well, I thought I had already smelled almost everything :)

After nearly six years in this hobby, countless fragrance samples, wow and yuck moments, I have now landed at Ensar Oud.

Of course, one could say that it is a complex, powerful, and very multifaceted scent. It has an animalistic, woody, and leathery quality, but also floral aspects with beautiful frangipani and osmanthus. However, it does not become too floral or sweet. One could say it has a certain sharpness from the Sichuan pepper. Later, it softens a bit with amber and coffee bean mixed with sandalwood. It is also worth mentioning the lovely civet, castoreum, and musk note that runs through the entire composition.

But I think that doesn’t describe anything here. For me, this is not a fragrance that can be analyzed using a fragrance pyramid and divided into different stages. I feel this is an experience. I feel like I was just in the jungle during the mating season of predators, being chased by a predator because I was too close to a female, and now I’m sitting here in front of my computer reporting on it.

It feels like returning from a dangerous adventure back to the safety of home. As if I just escaped the dangers of the jungle, having been chased through the underbrush by a predator and managed to escape. I have looked the tiger in the eye. I brushed past several trees and now sit in safety.

Wow!!! I have never experienced anything like this. It is a fantastic experience.

I think the "natural" ingredients that are so promoted by Ensar Oud really make the difference.

So, for anyone who wants to smell like a truly dangerous adventurer while waiting in line at the bakery or signal to someone how wild they are, I think this is a fine thing.

For me, it’s an absolute 10 out of 10 in all areas!
I have never had something so "real," almost "alive" under my nose. Maybe the tiger is still near me. I’m off to flee again!!!

Past and Present...
Hello everyone,

Let's get straight to the preface.

I’m not exactly sure where to start... so I’ll begin like this. Starting in 2012, I became a part of the still "affordable" niche world, and back then, Reflection Man was the first fragrance from this category, and honestly, I couldn't even begin to imagine what else would come or how things would develop.

After about 3 to 4 years, I found my signature trio, which consisted of "Alexandria II (Parfum) | XerJoff," "Gold Man | Amouage," and of course, Reflection Man....

But why am I telling you this?

This chapter represents my past, and from 2020 to 2022, these 3 fragrances were just a pure memory for me, as they had not been anywhere near what they once were since the reformulation. I have written some very "informative" blog articles about this.

Indirectly, this leads me to EO!

In 2024, I finally ventured into EO, even though I never really wanted to, and the main reason is the price you pay for a certain product.

During the year, I received a sample of "Tigerlust: Kanbojia | Ensar Oud / Oriscent," and that’s where the actual review of the fragrance begins!

About the fragrance:

Right from the start, you are greeted with something very tingling, somewhat aggressive for some, and that was actually the reason I initially set the sample aside. However, "Tigerlust: Kanbojia | Ensar Oud / Oriscent" reminded me of 2 other fragrances: my former Gold Man (until 2018) and Fahrenheit Eau de Toilette + Fahrenheit Parfum ...

What exactly about them?

From "Gold Man | Amouage," we have this civet note, and from Fahrenheit Eau de Toilette + "Fahrenheit Parfum | Dior," we have this mix of the tingling gas station vibe and the leather from "Fahrenheit Parfum | Dior." However, "Tigerlust: Kanbojia | Ensar Oud / Oriscent" plays in a completely different league when it comes to the quality of the raw materials used, and it is this special kind of fragrance...!

I perceive and handle it as a statement fragrance, and that brings us to the present.

I have now purchased the fragrance as a bottle (!), while Gold Man was the scent of my past, "Tigerlust: Kanbojia | Ensar Oud / Oriscent" is the scent of my present. Whether it will ever become a worthy signature scent is both yes and no. Yes, because it has grand quality and development, but also NO, because I think that if I wear it "more often," that certain MAGIC will quickly fade, and I don’t want that, and on the other hand, the price we have here... - so rather NO!

The fragrance starts off tingling (musk, civet) and after 15 minutes becomes woody, floral, spicy, and somehow always retains that leathery charm, which, to my knowledge, comes from Malaysian oud.

The longevity is, in my opinion, a 9 - 9.25 and the sillage an 8 - 8.25 (due to the concentration, this is completely logical).

How is it received:

EOs usually do not go over well with the general public = this is because they are not made for "everyone," but are artworks that want to be seen as such. That’s why there is no EO that always gets a top rating... in this case, it’s such that the first 15 minutes usually do NOT go over well, as it is quite forward, but afterwards, it becomes very tame and is well-received.

I find it to be a character fragrance and not a scent to impress the opposite sex!

Is it really worth the price?

I find it very difficult and honestly quite ungrateful to evaluate EO based on price, as these are fragrances that play in the Champions League purely in terms of quality.... and let’s put it this way (affectionately), yes, one should/ could have experienced certain scents from the brand, and I see it the same way here, TEST IT and THEN we’ll see further!

I hope I could give you a closer look at the fragrance...

And now have a nice day/ evening or whenever you read this review, best regards, Benny

(Now the same as always - because it applies!)

Now to the topic of luxury:

As you can see in my profile, I have indeed smelled many fragrances, and there are scents where you can detect a certain (sometimes) strong synthetic note, and you quickly realize that some perfume houses focus more on quantity than quality, and there are some where you can tell "oh come on, let’s put in more + better ingredients," and you can smell that at the end of the day.

A brief note on the topic of packaging, bottle, sprayer:

I’ll keep it short: I give a 10 out of 10 in every category, and I know very well that tastes are very different. So, if someone rates this honestly with a 7-8 or lower... - PHEW. Beautiful and high-quality bottle with the elegant leather case, the wooden cap, beautiful timeless bottle design, etc.... so I find it very hard to rate it any differently, and I’m not saying this because I like or dislike a brand!

Now a short note on my opinion:

I am not sponsored, influenced by anyone, receiving money or anything else. I approach the topic of perfume as I am, being honest; everything else is not my style. My true personal opinion is very valuable to me, and I hope perhaps ;) that this is noticeable. If I don’t like something, such as packaging, bottle, sprayer, or longevity/sillage, I will communicate that too!

Strong leather at the start. Becomes berry-like, rosy-warm with a hint of leather over time. Very pleasant and intriguing.
