Winter walk
Norrland is a region in Sweden with an important timber industry. This is exactly what the fragrance conveys. He reminds me of rustic woods. A winter walk through the spruce forest. Grapefruit brings an incredible freshness to the fragrance. It's like breathing in very cool, fresh air.
Citrus flows into the nose as soon as it is sprayed on. Bergamot? Grapefruit? A hint of lemon?

The enormous Firsche also lingers in the heart before Vetiver joins it. A liquorice that comes from a completely different corner, though. Originally from Asia, it has a wide range of applications. Aromatherapy and perfumery are one side, naturopathy the other. Applied to the skin, it moisturizes and keeps moths away.

For me Norrland is an everyday scent, no more and no less. He is very masculine and conveys strength and self-confidence. Well applicable when shopping through the city, when meeting friends, when doing everyday things. Durability and Sillage are satisfactory. But the bottle looks a bit cheap. The sticker with the label alone was probably created in Microsoft Word in a minute. Very unimaginative. The wooden lid is something different and harmonious with the North European flair that the perfume exudes. But somehow it doesn't match the glass bottle and seems strangely superimposed

The Conquering Blend of Citrus, Spicy, and Woody Notes
To start with, I know it might sound weird to some of you, but I adore the smell of fresh-cut wood in the morning. Although, this time out of Zara's Tiveden and Norrland, I choose the latter. It is woodier with a hint of pencil sharpener note, but without having freshly-cut trees smell, like in Tiveden.
Norrland, on the other hand, keeps this foresty-woody spell, it's spicier due to vetiver and peppercorn, earthier, more Viking-land like, it reminds me of Terre d'Hermès, which I find reflective and healing. It's more synthetic than TdH, still gratifying and clean. I would imagine it is great to wear both for the office and the outdoors.
I don't think this is an uncanny TdH clone. Instead, I think it smells as if it was inspired by it. They both share that dirty citrus vibe, but TdH is brighter and more mineral, that aspect is missing here. If you are anything like me, you would like TdH, and you should like this, but don't expect it to be a replacement.

Norrland is allegedly built around three main notes, which are decidedly detectable: the zestiness from grapefruit, the spiciness from peppercorn, and the woodiness from vetiver. The dominant tone is woody, though it's obviously vetiver, probably Haitian kind that is smokier, woody, and a little green. Here you get woodiness and not earthiness vibe from vetiver, an accord that is the perfect go-to accord when creating masculine aromas, its long-lasting earthy aroma pairs perfectly with leather and wood notes, as in this scent. I must be mistaken, yet I get a hint of cedarwood in the composition, which goes together well with the vetiver.

All the above being said Norrland is a unique scent on its own. The few ingredients are nicely blended, and it performs way above its price point. Interestingly, I feel it shares the same musky undertones as Tiveden, yet not as pronounced. Longevity is not bad; however, it goes down to a skin scent sooner than what I would expect from an EDP. Instead, the sillage is moderate, which makes the scent suitable for the office. Spring and Autumn are both appropriate seasons for showing off the beautifulness of this juice.

As ditto, it is not an accurate clone, yet it smells carefully akin and captures the essential good vibes of TdH. ZARA is doing things pretty well!

Terre d'Hermès EDT clone without the orange
Got this for €10 reduced from €15 in the winter sales. Terre d'Hermès EDT clone without the orange in the Top Notes. A little spicier than d'Hermès to my nose. It lasts about 7 hours. Has moderate projection. Feels more like an EDT than an EDP to me! It's discontinued at the moment.

TdH EDP stripped naked.
Three notes? I'm not so sure...

I've been wearing this one for about a week now with near total satisfaction. It's a clone of Terre de Hermes (TdH) alright, more specifically the EDP version. It's actually very close. There's no dirty orange, florals or anything else really. Yeah, there's a really sour and synthetic grapefruit up top, but that barely lasts 10 minutes.

No, the magic lies in its simplicity. If you can bare the briny opening, then you're in for a treat. About 10 minutes in, TdH takes the front stage for a soliloquy in his birthday suit. The grapefruit all but disappears into the shadows, and Pepper probably forgot she was even in the play. "Where's Pepper?" the director kept asking. Silence.

But the delivery is on point - no straying from the mark - it's straight up vetiver. Clean, green and nothing mean. Handsome, rather, and with very decent projection. The performance took me by surprise actually. It's an excellent work scent, and for the price, this may even be the best starter fragrance for someone who is just getting in vetivers; especially if they enjoy TdH but could do without that rugged orange.

But like many Zara frags, don't be surprised if this one disappears off the shelves in a hurry, only to make a comeback the next year in a different bottle and under a different name. So don't fret if you miss out this time. I don't think we've seen the last of this one-note wonder, even after the red curtain falls. Polite applause.

Here we go again! This time ZARA released a mild clone of Terre d'Hermés, same vibe but much more delicate like Cuir Vetiver by Yves Roches.
