Not my coconut
I love coconut, but it's also a hit or miss note for me. When it hits, it really does, but sometimes it misses the mark badly. Unfortunately this is an example for the latter.
The opening is sweet coconut with a dry, woodsy texture. Closer to grated coconut than coconut milk. The sweetness in this reminds me of older, cheaper interpretations of coconut, like that Yves Rocher Noix de Coco fragrance I had as a teenager or coconut scented air fresheners.
But the scent quickly turns very ozonic and bracing, like fragrances with a oceanic or salty accord tend to be. I can sense no trace of vanilla, which is disappointing to me. This is not the creamy, tropical kind of coconut that I prefer.
I think it might be suitable for those who want a coconut fragrance without the tropical florals or gourmand accents that most of them have. Maybe it would work better for men (or other people with masculine leaning tastes), as the ozonic, aquatic side of this is reminiscent of typical male-marketed products.
Molecule C-19 certainly closes a gap in the coconut fragrance market, but it's not the kind of scent I imagine when I think about the beach. For my taste it's way too harsh and scratchy.
