Back to youth

Youth always sends me back in time to my teenage years. Back then, Hollister was the non plus ultra when it came to shopping. Anyone who has ever rummaged through the dark, noisy, cramped stores knows the joyful tension when you first saw what color your shopping haul actually was in the daylight outside. But for us fragrance fans, the most memorable Hollister memory is probably the penetrating sweet and fruity scent of the boutiques. But the fragrance shelf also had a few creations to offer. One of them had the same melon and plum notes as in Youth, which is why it definitely evokes Hollister associations in me.

Youth starts fruity with peach and melon, but shifts in the heart between plum, subtle white flowers and vanilla notes. All in all, the combination is sweet, fruity yet airy and light. The result is a really light, cheerful, feel-good fragrance for relaxed days.

As this is a typical zarko synthetic molecular fragrance, it remains relatively linear. The sillage and longevity are very good, but not as strong as Zarko's Muse. Sprayed on in the morning, the fragrance is still easily perceptible in the evening. Youth is still noticeable, men in particular have regularly complimented me on the fragrance. So if you want a long-lasting, fruity compliment magnet and don't mind a hint of Hollister vibes, you can feel youthful again with Youth.

... for a beautiful and youthful fragrance.

Youth - when I spray on the fragrance, I immediately feel 10 years younger.

It reminds me of Cloud Collection (No.1), although there is no sea buckthorn listed in the notes.
But maybe it's the symbiosis of peach, melon, pear and plum that reminds me of sea buckthorn.
In the drydown, a floral component is added to the fruity notes. I cannot smell any individual flowers.
Musk, powdery notes and subtle woods form the base of Youth.
However, the fragrance only changes slightly overall.

The fragrance is as light as youth, the years between 20 and 30.
The light fruity notes also reflect this feeling.
Sillage and longevity are good average.
I see this unisex fragrance as more suitable for women who are young or feel young.

Youth or Cloud Collection ?

Immediately after spraying it on, I immediately thought of "Cloud Collection | Zarkoperfume", the two smell similar, I'm really amazed.
I immediately sprayed "Cloud Collection | Zarkoperfume" on the other arm to compare directly...yup, the two are so similar that I seriously considered putting Youth on my WL and saving myself the pricey CC.

After a few minutes, however, you realize that they are two different fragrances. Youth smells much fruitier, fluffier, peach, melon....
the CC is woodier, harder ...and slightly salty.
I fear the worst, namely that Youth will also go on the WL. I hope it has a lousy shelf life. "Cloud Collection | Zarkoperfume" has a very good shelf life because I've already spent almost 10 ml of my AF.... and I'm sure I'll buy it at some point. It's worth the price to me and if Youth doesn't make it, it's out (thoughts from a perfumer who is bravely fighting addiction!).

However, I wasn't even aware of CC's woodiness until this test. Until then, it was a beautiful, fruity sea buckthorn fragrance for me. And what a good fit it was for my relaxing Rügen vacation, I realize how unisex "Cloud Collection | Zarkoperfume" is...the silly barriers in my head, but maybe it's interesting for one or the other to know. However, I really like the tart, fruity, woody fragrance.

One hour after application.
Unfortunately, this fruity fluffiness recedes in Youth. Flattens out, I hope not into insignificance, not that there remains only a flattened plum with a little musk...I am a little disappointed.

Two hours later.
It has a lovely fruity scent, initially fluffy and powdery. Later it becomes more restrained, but the plum remains. Light woody notes now come to the fore.
Youth is a beautiful, totally pleasant fragrance!
After three hours.
Youth becomes more woody, it is similar to CC, even if it is sweeter overall, great fragrance, more feminine. I wear it for about 7 hours. I think it simply has more fragrance progression! If you like that, you should go for Youth, because :

"Cloud Collection | Zarkoperfume", on the other hand, is a beautiful piece of driftwood that was washed up on a Danish beach straight from the North Sea. Feels strong, totally unisex! Dreamlike! Slightly fruity, salty and woody and the whole thing feels firmer, not fluffy and soft. And it stays like this for many hours, I don't notice a fragrance gradient like I do with Youth. The longevity is incredible. When I apply it in the morning, I can still smell it 12 hours later.
Zarko fragrances are the complete opposite of oriental perfumes or lush floral scents.
They are beautiful, Nordic fragrances. I love them, as I live on the Danish border.
They are light and strong at the same time.

My notes are a bit older and I now own the "Cloud Collection | Zarkoperfume" I like the power and the straight scent progression better.

The wonderful tropical notes disappear, unfortunately

At first spray I smell coconut, pineapple and citrus. Youth by Zarkoperfume cannot be found on their own website (at the time that I am writing this review), it isn't on Fragrantica and searching for it, I only found it in a drugstore and only on that drugstores site could I find the composition too.

From what I gather, this is fairly new!

Zarkoperfumes are molecule perfumes, so you cannot take into account my experience, almost at all, because they are even more changeable and morphic with you chemistry and pH than 'regular' perfumes. They even change depending on weather, your hormonal cycle and so on (especially Molécule 234.38).

Youth is youthful! It smells wonderful, but it is definitely juvenile reminding me of summers as a young adult. First drinks at a bar, tasting daiquiris and staying all night on the beach with friends.

After dry down, the citrus, pineapple and coconut note is gone, what stays, close to skin, is a fairly tropical sweetness.

Zarko, the creator of Zarkoperfumes says "a perfume is nothing without human skin" and I agree to an extent. Sometimes, a perfume is the most wonderful scent creating a peaceful and happy aura around me, but in contact with my skin, it loses its magic. However, in his world of molecular fragrances, the fragrances really do only shine when in contact with skin. The perfume will adapt and change for you and with you, making it very unique, which I love!

Youth, however, is faint and fleeting. I feel like it is lost on me. I would have loved to add this to my collection as I am in need of a new spring fragrance that is a little more fresh and fun. I am not sure whether I should keep it in my collection, but something about it is really fun and flirty, and the faintness is quite endearing for everyday wear.

Back to the actual notes, when reapplying it, I do get a peachy note that I found to be more pineapple-y before. The top notes are peach, pear, melon and green apple. Middle notes are jasmine, Bulgarian Otto rose, white florals and plum. Base notes are sandalwood, dream wood and a musk accord. I must say, that peach lingers after dry down and the fragrance becomes a close to skin warm musk. I do not get much of the other notes stated though. And luckily, no rose either.

Some hours in and the fragrance is an eau de fraiche at best, which is a shame, but I do sense a lovely fresh sweetness when searching for it, but it cannot be worth the price tag with this poor longevity on me.

What a shame!
