Grâce D'Orient Angelos Créations Olfactives 2020

Here we have an excellent perfume that recaptures the style of perfumes from the early 1900s. It is mostly spicy. There is a predominance of cloves. But it's also floral; there is Egyptian jasmine and violet. As Angelos himself says there is no specific pyramid, therefore night of head, heart and bottom. It's up to us to find out and be surprised as the notes appear before us. Much more feminine, and has a crazy duration. All Angelos perfumes are always a wonderful discovery.

An explosion of cloves!
Spicy, powdery, rich and resinous(sweet).
The benzoin used is wonderful, one of the best ever heard.
Together with vanilla and labdanum it creates a beautiful amber accord that forms the structure of the whole fragrance.
Great longevity and sillage.
Slightly more feminine in my opinion.

Grace d'Orient is a densely spicy concoction focused around cloves, a wreath of florals (rose, jasmine, and violet are especially prominent), and warm, rounded resins (benzoin to the fore). It's powdery, retro, and base-heavy, and needs time on skin to reveal it's true complexity.

Anyone familiar with classic Caron Daltroff-Morsetti style will be on familiar territory here: the spicy clove of Poivre, the rose potpourri of Or Et Noir, maybe even a little bit of the leathery amber of Tabac Blond. Still, with this style essentially extinct in the modern day, even the most faithful homage feels interesting and exotic in the current perfume landscape.

Well, this is mighty nice. The clove and violet opening is spectacular. This feels very much like a vintage Caron, like En Avion, Tabac Blond, and Poivre all rolled up in one. Scintillating and warm benzoin makes this super fleshy and chewy. The rosiness is so Daltroff Caron, too! If it weren't aware of and in love with the Caron classics, I would be hard-pressed not to get a bottle of this and envelop myself. Derivative, but so nicely rendered! It motivates me to smell more from this house, for sure.

This is a fragrance that I imagine a woman like Nicole Kidman could wear. Cloves in the opening are quite dominant to my nose, but there's so much more behind it. A very sensual, deep, spicy scent, in the opening it's almost a feminine version of l'air du desert marocain n'2 by Tauer. I'm kind of new to the perfume game, but this is a scent I'd love my wife to have. 9/10
