Milder version of Santal Blush
I was honestly surprised that this turned out to be somewhat of a dupe of Santal blush. This one is more gentle and mass appealing. Also lasts well on clothes but leaves more of an intimate projection. I think it can lean abit animalic smelling depending on skin chemistry but on mine, I don't pick it up at all.

I love the bottle and the brand but I think I'm just a little bummed that they didn't go with a more unique approach on sandalwood, especially given the hefty price tag.

Tam Dao's spicier sibling
Phenomenal opening: spicy-sweet-creamy woods with an almost toasted nut accord. Based on a first impression from the paper strip, I got a sample to wear it for a whole day and halfway through I could swear I had put on my Tam Dao instead.

So today I'm wearing Santal Blond on one arm and Tam Dao on the other to work it out.
The opening? Very different. In direct comparison, Tam Dao is dustier, more austere and less sweet. Santal Blond is creamier, sweeter and spicier.
Half an hour in, they start converging a bit and after a good hour or so, it's like the same piece of music at a different pitch. Tam Dao loses the dust and gets creamier, Santal Blond loses the spice and goes more full-on woody, while staying ever so slightly sweeter than Tam Dao throughout.

They are different! But It's a fairly safe bet to say that if you like one, you will like the other. With Tam Dao already in my collection, I see no need to own this.

Santal medecine
This Perfume opens like it's described.
Spicy, energetic, a bit bitter... Bergamot I detected immediately. The spice is cardamom, like I smell when I drink somalian tea...

Some minutes later it becomes more creamier and woody smelling. Definitely the sandalwood popping up.
It goes the direction of TF santal blush, but S.B. smells a little bit more Floral and little skanky nuance (maybe the oud?).
Also comparable to Dunhill's Indian sandalwood.

Once it's dried down completely, I detect something medecinal / pharmaceutical.
When I close my eyes I see myself in a white-store pharmacy.
But at the same time it gives a boozy vibe.

Overall, it does smell a little bit synthetic, but not in an unpleasant way.

I Prefer this one over TF santal blush.

Hygge
He is nervous. Just one more cigarette before it starts. Still excited, damn.
Quickly, he pours himself a shot of whiskey, just a finger's width. He still has to drive. Luckily, his fingernails are quite long at the moment. His hands are shaking, and he spills on his shirt. No time to change now. Off to the underground garage for the long-awaited new car.
Just opening the door sounds classy. The leather seats are impeccable, flawless.
You can smell that the luxurious vehicle is brand new. Custom-made features included. Instrument panels lined with real sandalwood. The scent immediately lifts his spirits. He dabs a drop of jasmine oil behind his ear.
His date will be mighty impressed, no doubt about it. A few sweets are already waiting in the glove compartment. A pack of Tonka truffles from the patisserie. Really hygge here.
Behind the wheel, he feels great, casual yet dynamic. Usually, his dates don’t last long. At first, he’s excited, but he often gets bored quickly and disappears. Yes, he kind of evaporates fast. Unless the skin chemistry is right. Then he might stick around a little longer...
From this day on, at least, he will only be seen with his new favorite toy.
Because let’s be honest, the most important date is happening right here today, now, in the underground garage. A man and his great love.
Scent:
With Atelier Materi, I immediately feel like I’m in the car when I smell one of their fragrances. And I mean in the new car, with all its various scents.
Additionally, I subtly smell cigarette smoke and alcohol, possibly leather as well.
So. That was the summary of the Materi base in the background, as I perceive it subjectively.
The Santal-Blond is the best from Materi, in my opinion. The only one from this brand that I really like.
A light, cheerful sandalwood scent lays over the somewhat quirky base here. Enhanced with Tonka, it becomes even more "muggle-like" later on. Everything mentioned and more combines into a rather pleasant, cheerful fragrance. Unfortunately, it doesn’t last particularly long
(at least not on me).
But now I don’t have time to write anymore. I just need to quickly spray the interior of my old used car with the rest of the Santal-Blond sample...

A spicy start with a blast of cardamom. Then it gets smoother. Dries down to a creamy, slightly floral sandalwood.

An intimate spicy sandalwood with some citrusy nuances. A milder dupe of Santal Blush.

Pleasant combination of warm spice and fresh bergamot. The opening is sharp, becomes more mellow in the heart.

Too synthetic for me.

Sandalwood is clearly the star, the scent is rather soft and subtle, and I like it because I love sandalwood. But something is missing.
