FM Promise with leather and a dose of saffron
Safran Royal is essentially a leathery version of Promise Parfum, making it very similar to "Deified Tony Iommi | XerJoff" which is a similar concept. Actually, more correctly Deified is similar to Safran Royal since this came first.
Strangely, the note breakdown here does not contain any fruity notes or rose, both of which exist in ample quantities. The saffron mainly plays a supporting role in the leather note, but Safran Royal does come across more spicy than both Promise Parfum and "Deified Tony Iommi | XerJoff".
Safran Royal opens with a burst of almost sour boozy fruit, and a hefty dose of spices, most notably saffron and cinnamon. The florals come in and soften the fragrance out, then the cypriol/nagarmotha and patchouli (they are interchangeable) give it that oriental/oud-y feel. The leather gives a rough edge to the whole thing, making it masculine and powerful. There is also some aromachemical, I believe it's ambrocenide, that gives it that same loud and brash almost gasoline-like character as Ombre Nomade. Performance is fantastic, both sillage and longevity.
I would take Safran Royal over "Deified Tony Iommi | XerJoff", I think it's just a bit more interesting and ironically, "niche"-y. But I'd take Promise Parfum over both - that one is just a masterpiece, and completely original to boot.
