A Brighter Glow Red
....She said, 'There is no reason'
And the truth is plain to see
But I wandered through my playing cards
And would not let her be
One of sixteen vestal virgins
Who were leaving for the coast
And although my eyes were open
They might have just as well've been closed
And so it was that later
As the miller told his tale
That her face, at first just ghostly
Turned a whiter shade of pale
And so it was that later...
A whiter shade of pale- Procul Harum
This is the song that comes to my lips as a soft hum while wearing the fragrance. A longing melody with thoughtful content. However, the scent is not pale to me; it is rather a strong red, through roses and currants and pink pepper - it symbolizes for me the heat of longing, the sweetness of love. But this deep red is softened by powdery notes, through iris and a little freesia - the lily of the valley has only a supporting role. The fiery, sweet red is softened, as if love were a past memory. Yet this memory manifests itself as sweet indulgence, praline, vanilla, and bitter almond linger - the patchouli testifies to the dark depth of this feeling. Present passion and at the same time, a glorified melancholy characterize this fragrance for me. It is sweet, but it does not "squeak." It is a mature sweetness.
It is present and radiates a beautiful aura, and it lasts. At least 7-8 hours. The clothing carries a hint of it forever. And so it can certainly be a lovely companion for occasions where the aforementioned song (for those who still know it) contributes to the ambiance.
The exquisite temptation is very pleasantly noticeable; I do not perceive it as gourmand, despite the bitter almond, but rather as a fine potpourri of feminine seduction.
