Peach Pie filling + Crumb Couture
if you've smelled Snif's Crumb Couture or Imaginary Authors' Whiff of Waffle Cone, you already know about half of this scent - that popular sandalwood-pastry accord they share is, to my nose, on par with the "crumble" part of this peach-crumble gourmand. gourmand girl as i claim to be, this was the first i tried that was perhaps "too gourmand" for me. as it turns out, there are many such cases - but is it really gourmand (to me) if i don't find it appetizing? something about this approach always smells stale, or like perfumed cardboard, to me. i do hope the gourmand trend continues to phase out this accord as it appears to be.
the peach accord, especially by contrast, is lovely. i've seen the comparisons to peach rings, but i think it's a little more naturalistic than that. it's more of a warmed, sweetened peach pie filling - as intended - to me. i think the orange helps to keep things juicy, with the cinnamon being another key player in adding some warmth and taking things into a dessert direction.
altogether, i do prefer this to the two other pastry fragrances i mentioned earlier.. but it's still not for me. it's not very wearable, but it's also not a photorealistic edible gourmand.
i've been trying to think of a kinder way to say that it smells kind of like a "working-with-what-we-have" attempt at a gourmand, whereas some others feel like "we-pulled-out-all-the-stops" executions. to be fair, LMG is a very affordable brand with many scents that come off synthetic, simplistic, or lacking in quality. however, they also have some really solid creations, including Angel Soiree from this same collection. i tend to get along with their airy/powdery fragrances more than the ambery/gourmand ones.
