Typical tropical floral
Bain de Midi is not mind-blowing, but nicely done. It smells just like the notes suggest: Tropical florals, a lot of vanilla and a dash of creamy coconut. The fragrance starts out with a very sweet, intense, oily tiare and ylang ylang blend and slowly dries down to a warm, but bright vanilla. The oiliness of the opening can be a bit overwhelming, but after half an hour or so the fragrance becomes very smooth. Subtle additions of coconut and a tiny hint of citrus make it even more summery than it already is. This would definitely make a good holiday scent.
I think this is best for people who are either new to tropical florals or hardcore fans of the genre. For those in between, like me, it's a bit too typical, without any twists that would make it stand out from the crowd. I do like it, but it's far from love.
