Aquincum Pictura Fragrans 2024

Aquincum, as you may have guessed from the notes, has the structure of a chypre. Although, it is very light compared to classic chypres, as animalic notes are nearly absent. I like that it is centered around the lily-of-the-valley, and it has a funky light summery aquatic flair to it. It's ozonic, slightly mineralic, lily-of-the-valley chypre. It stands out. I like it.

Aquincum is an ozonic, petrichor and muguet --- like soapy, bubbly water sitting in ancient stone baths. Fresh and smooth, not sharp like some other aquatics can be. The creaminess is a bizarre textural addition, but it makes sense. Love the beautiful light blue color of the juice too! This has mineral notes that literally feel like you're underground - cooling off in spring water.

Aquincum is a fragrance that takes you places. The second I sprayed it, I felt like I was chilling in a forest. The sun was shining through the leaves and the air smelled all fresh and woodsy. Then, as the scent got stronger, I felt this warm, sunny vibe, like when you're wrapped in a cozy blanket. And the honeysuckle and linden blossom notes are sweet and pretty.

But the real star of the show is the lily of the valley. It's the most pure and delicate floral scent ever, and it reminded me of those perfect spring days when everything's in bloom. The base notes of vanilla, tobacco, and amber balance out the sweetness and make the scent last forever. This one is definitely a new fave!
