L'esprit Impur - Baba Yaga Pictura Fragrans 2024

First, I was amazed by the colour. Green? Very Yaga. I thought: ah, this would be amazing. The pyramid? There is bacon, barley, snow. I was so excited. Turns out that the colour is not actually green but toothpaste-blue, and the scent is pure vaporub. And to think I was disappointed with Dark Tales' Yaga because it was a generic forest scent. This is way worse. Mint, over mint, over other mint. No other note is detectable. I hate mint and I hoped for sure it was just a bit of that in the opening, but no - its the main note during the whole evolution. Thanks God I still have Fantôme's Baba Yaga. That one is everything this... toothpaste scent wish it could be.

I know Baba Yaga comes from Eastern European cultures, and I know we have tons of snow there but Baba Yaga is not explicitly associated with snow :D This makes no sense whatsoever. This smells like Vaporub, 100%! Or toothpaste! Super mint overdose! I think elemi, labdanum and juniper do not help, they really round it all up for the true Vaporub experience. The minty fresh experience! I feel like dentists would recommend this as a toothpaste, that's how minty it is. I smell a bit of patchouli and maybe a hint of pepper in the dry-down, but no bacon, no dill, no toast, no beetroot, no incense. Mint, mint, mint, and juniper overload.
