The Cool Resin with Cash
First, I would like to clarify that this review will not be a comparison or a vs-race. Because it is obvious, clearly Privé No 1 is a dupe of Christian Dior's Bois D'Argent. However, I have not yet smelled the "original," but I have been told that the scent comes veeeery close to BdA. So, that should suffice.
Now to Privé No 1 Intense. I am honest, I sprayed it for the first time and was immediately blown away. A woody, smooth yet clear and cool scent hits the nose. With a lot of depth! I also find it difficult to break this scent down and describe it individually. It somehow creates an overall impression, a damn good one! If one were to deconstruct it, for me the main notes would be resins, woods, a certain sweetness that holds back quite a bit, and something metallic. It simply smells noble and expensive, which brings us to the next point. No 1 smells like money. Really cold hard cash. I never thought about it before, but after I heard it once, I thought, wow, THAT'S true. For me, it is now the scent of money par excellence.
The Privé is perfectly balanced for me. No note is disturbing or gets lost. Simply perfectly tuned.
Longevity and sillage are fine. Not excessively strong but by no means weak. A good middle ground.
Conclusion:
Privé No 1 has quickly become one of my favorites, but I must say that I need to be in the mood to wear it. It is not an "everyday scent." But if you appreciate it and your intuition says: today it will be the one, then it is just amazing. For me, it is more of a late winter to spring scent. It has a certain coolness due to the slight metallic note, but also a warmth from the woods and the sweetness that tries to counterbalance it but doesn't quite succeed. Thus, it remains for me a rather cool-leaning scent with beautiful resins that are just lovely. Simply good.
