Santal Rouge RP

Sandalwood scents must be of the highest naturalness and quality for me, but even then they can often be hit or miss - RP's "Santal Rouge" unfortunately falls into the latter category and comes across as anything but high-quality or well thought out!

A truly striking and unpleasant combination of prickly violets and creamy-synthetic sandalwood pushes this RP fragrance far into the "Please avoid!" territory for me. Not quite a "Boris Becker," but it's heading towards that bitter pill. I'm not really a fan of violet pastilles anyway, but I believe even advocates of the well-known lozenges will find little joy in this chemical concoction. The drydown, pure and transparent sandalwood, is quite nice. Everything before that, however, leans more towards the greasy side. Unharmonious, unpleasant, unharmonious. Simply vibrating on the wrong frequencies. A non-fragrance.

Sillage: not strong, not weak
Longevity: 7 hours, very close to quality work. At least in terms of its stamina.

Conclusion: here you get deep violet violets thanks to a harsh sandalwood baseball bat - olfactory bodily harm, mostly in the nasal area.
