The world's safest boyfriend lets you steal his sweatshirt
This is the scent of a significant other who treats you with kindness. His hugs smell like safety and and secure masculinity - and when you borrow his sweatshirt, you realize you're catching whiffs of Luna Rossa Sport .

Secure masculinity, why? Because this is lavender-vanilla forward. Some men might not want to smell like anything sweet, which is valid in its own right - but in my opinion, there's an appeal to a lavender-vanilla blend like this one.

The lavender-vanilla is more prominent in the opening - and even with the vanilla, the lavender itself is still herbal rather than gourmand. The juniper berry adds just enough of a masculine, cooling, and woodsy touch to keep the sweetness in check - and the subtle ginger brings an aura of freshness, like the clarity of a soft ginger tea.

The heliotrope is well-balanced with the tonka bean and musk. Not too powdery to veer into cosmetic territory - but just enough to contribute towards the feeling of a slightly-creamy bar of soap. In dry-down, it does become more powdery (with a "cool"/metallic undertone, and a bit of a synthetic quality).

The projection isn't "beast mode" - but that enhances the intimacy. Despite this, it does have an inviting scent trail/sillage. Overall it's somehow calming, comforting, & sexy all at once.

P.S. While I'd love to smell this on someone else, I did spray myself with the tester bottle - and have been enjoying it thoroughly. It feels similar to the concept of Boyfriend Eau de Parfum (Kate Walsh created the fragrance after missing the smell of her boyfriend on her skin/clothes).

So if I had a significant other who owned Luna Rossa Sport , I might steal his bottle from time to time - or possibly just get my own!

Not Sporty
So in Italian rossa means red while rosa is pink?

This scent smells more Pink/Rosa than Red/Rossa. Too soft, pink and feminine. Too "thick" or heavy to be called Sport.

I've never really understood the popularity of this line. Caron's Pour Un Homme did this decades ago and seems to be dismissed as dated, go figure.

If you're reading reviews because you're looking for a fragrance for hot weather or for physical activity then you might keep looking. This is good for not-so-hot temps.

Maybe for evenings or casual events? Definitely can be worn by the ladies. Easily projects and has longevity.

I had no idea…
…that people were comparing this to Le Male/Reflection. I would see it in the store and see the word “sport” on the bottle, and continue walking on my way.

Then more recently, I saw that this was being discontinued, and read all of the reviews comparing it to JPG. As a big Le Male fan, I grabbed it while I could still find it.

I am GLAD I did. While it isn’t as VERBATIM as some suggest, I definitely DO get the comparison, and I enjoy it very much. It’s actually different enough to the point where a JPG fan walking by might think it’s a flanker of some sort. (Kind of how the Carbon is compared to Sauvage, you can kind of see WHY people do, but it in no way is it the SAME scent).

It’s got decent performance, projecting 2-3ft for about 2 hours, with an OK sillage trail for that duration, before fading into a skin scent that lasts an additional 4-6 hours or so, depending on how much you spray. Not too shabby at all.

I grabbed it asap, as I have a feeling that this is going to be another one that people start to remember as being greater than it was, and long for it when it is no more. It’s fun to have and wear the frags that aren’t available, and to read the reviews, seeing the timeline switch; and how the opinions switch from yin to yang.

If you see it, and you like that Le Male feeling, grab it. More like Le Male then Reflection Man or Darley, FYI, but worthy if you like the “barbershop vanilla mint” scents.

Unforgettable
This fragrance and I go a long way back, and it is a fragrance that is dear to my heart, even though I acquired a full bottle for the first time just a couple of months ago. A scent that is easy to love, smells great in the air, and most people around you will equally enjoy this beautiful perfume when you decide to wear it. This "magic" is the reason why I finally decided to get this flanker of Luna Rossa, and that’s why it’s my favourite release from the house for over 10 years now.

TOP NOTES
The unusual combination of juniper berries, matched with a zesty rush of ginger, is the reason why Prada calls this an “explosive-opening”, which matches my experience. There are also citric elements in the first couple of minutes, but that feeling comes from the ginger. Overall, that initial burst is bold and invigorating, setting an active tone for the fragrance.

HEART NOTES
After the fireworks of the opening fade, Luna Rossa settles into a clean lavender heart. Thankfully, the lavender is not the cheap detergent-smelling variety, but a realistic representation of this herb. Truth be told, this lavender is not on the level of the one found in Caron Pour Un Homme de Caron, but this comparison wouldn’t be far. Not a single fragrance on this planet possesses the quality of lavender oils that Caron does.

BASE NOTES
Eventually, the fragrance dries down to a dusty, semi-sweet, and warm base. On the web, base notes vary significantly, but what I get is vanilla and tonka beans. The vanilla is smooth, comforting, and slightly powdery, while the tonka (coumarin) adds a sweet almond-hay aroma. This base feels cosy and gourmand, like a warm dessert accord, but thanks to Prada’s ingenuity, it does not venture into whole gourmand territory, and remains barbershop-like.

OVERALL
In conclusion, Sport is a great, well-rounded aromatic oriental fougère by Prada. A scent that is probably a little bit overpriced, but also a memory-making perfume that, once you decide to buy it, I hardly doubt that you will regret it. 100% recommended!

As a woman I adore this sweet powdery lavender hay. Quite unisex with an unfortunate name. Fb worthy and going to be my new office scent.

I have no idea why "sport" is in the name here. Super vanilla/ lavender bomb and leans unisex to my nose. JPG Le Male is better for the $

Just a little similar to Le Male. If I have to choose Le Male or LRS, definitely I will chose Le Male even it has been reformulated.

Pretty boring classic fresh sports scent. Not bad, just not that interesting.

Overwhelmingly synthetic and powdery to me, the lavender and vanilla notes were the main draw for me and they didn't come through much.

I have the silver bottle so I'm not sure if the scent changed. This is a warm spicy, yet fresh sweet. Smells burnt to me in a good way.
