Lacrime Dei santi...

Profumo molto complesso a primo snaso però si nota già la bontà. Un incenso verde che solo l' apertura abbastanza pungere, si evolve in un profumo magnifico. Effettivamente si avverte una nota salmastra che ricorda appunto le lacrime, é un profumo artistico ma facilmente indossabile. Boccia stupenda come tutti gli adi Ale van.... Artigianale e sicuramente da provare questo brand.

Musty, Resinous Incense

As with all Adi ale Van scents, the power is unquestionable. Strong projection, great longevity, and a lovely bottle to hold it in. The scent starts with this certain musty note I've now found across Adi ale Van fragrances. Not unenjoyable, but it's an unusual scent that may put off some (perhaps less present in full bottles?). Beyond that, this is a thickly resinous incense with lovely woody and earthy notes beneath. I don't get salty notes, but I do imagine myself deep in a dense, evergreen forest, in a transcendent, incense-fueled meditation. Overall, it's an enjoyable scent, but I wish it had a bit more nuance to it.

Adi ale Van / Saints Tears

Bright and sharp green incense. The smell is saturated with incense, spicy and even salty. Only later did it hit me that it was salty like tears ... maybe hence the name - saints' tears. The smell is quite linear and strong, but with time the green tone ... of oak moss increases. So we have an interesting, strong and very long-designing incense chypre. Personally, I feel some similarities with L'Eau Trois (Diptyque), or notes of oakmoss that sound similar to Devil's Night Cap (Lush). Very good projection and durability. I feel the smell for about 10 hours.

Hellish Resinous Holiness

Inspired by too many bad C-movies, Wolle and his biker crew came up with the idea to indulge in a new fragrance from a Romanian label in the forests of Herne. Since the name Saints Tears had a religious connotation and strange rituals were recently deemed interesting as an expression of spirituality, the anticipation was high. Almost higher than during the last TV night, which featured Human Centipede. Now the challenge lay in the appropriate homage to the fragrance. One or two bikers performed rituals in the pond in the woods, completely undressed. The fire department was called; passersby had reported drowning seals.

In any case, it was unclear how such a resinous scent could be so citrusy. Until it was noticed that these ethereal notes likely came from elemi resin. This is known for its citrus nuances. Its presence was evident, overshadowing other ingredients. Only the oak moss was noticeably present. It was buried under the other ingredients; pleasantly cool but already on the threshold of warm temperatures, charged by the trilogy of resin.

Wolle had the idea to provide more incense. He wanted to thank Dionysus for the ample beer they had brought along. Unfortunately, he accidentally also smoked his pants.

“Pretty resinous, very bright, a bit too little gray incense for me. Not enough edges and corners.”
“Maybe that’s positively connotated and that’s why it’s such a bright smoky scent. Kind of for White Metal fans.”
They nodded in agreement, Wolle spilled beer on his robe.
“The positive thing is that it contains wood wax. You can use it to polish your furniture.”
Everyone nodded again, Wolle scratched his butt with the beer bottle.

It’s hard to say what Saints Tears is like. After several days of testing, I can’t quite grasp it but only approach it. Without discovering any depth. Those who appreciate bright smoke should give it a try. Overall, the scent is well-made and easy to wear. It doesn’t change at all, really not at all. After hours, still the same as in the first second, and that’s a shame. In the base, there are actually woody notes waiting. They remain hidden from us. Too bad; it remains a good scent that still holds a last riddle and, in my eyes, lacks completeness.

The End of a Journey

I get off the train at the foot of the Carpathians. The journey to Romania was long and exhausting.

The night train was damp and loud. It took me through the narrow mountain route. Only the moonlight shone through the dew-soaked windows.

I make my way into the forest. The untouched nature lies before me like a painting. The fog in the valley and the mossy paths on my way to my destination - Voroneţ.

I reach the Sistine Chapel at dusk. By now, it is raining heavily again. I can see the building from a distance. The light of the flickering candles illuminates the old windows of the chapel.

I escape the cold, open the creaking heavy wooden door, and enter the chapel.

The scent of candle wax, old wooden benches, and traces of incense from past centuries fills my nose. But there is something else in the darkness of the winding building. An old barrel, where turpentine resins were probably stored originally, stands almost hidden in the choir of the chapel.

The ethereal fragrance mingles with the woody-warm notes that time has laid in the space.

The atmosphere and mood in the chapel are moving. I feel safe, almost embraced and welcomed.

The end of a long journey.

I have arrived.
