It hurts my soul....
... how so many of my favorite fragrances have been made into something here that only disappoints me. Byredo: so many good perfumes! Baudelaire: such a promising name! Leather, incense, patchouli, amber: so much anticipation!

And then this: except for the caraway at the beginning (I hate caraway!), it smells mushy. It smells warm, a little animalistic maybe even, and, where is that coming from please?: Something smells greasy. It makes me nauseous, unfortunately. The scent even has some depth to it, but it doesn't really change as it goes on. Something is too much here and not right. I can not describe it, unfortunately, I can not cope with "Baudelaire", which I adore as a poet.

I can't possibly imagine "Baudelaire" on a woman. It is rather what for the little demanding gentleman from 70, who wants to chop instead of spill. The fragrance is for me the equivalent of Aunt Hilde's handbag, so the wallet of Uncle Heinz. The kind of Uncle Heinz, by the way, who belonged to the unpopular part of the relatives who, when you were a kid, always wanted to hug you and then made you black out in his cloud of aftershave and eventually you smelled of it yourself. Then as now: I want to wash it off quickly. Of all things, but the fragrance is quite clingy.

Roses are red and .... I smell bad
I have this fragrance only as a sample, otherwise I would be annoyed beyond measure. However, I would perfume with so much rose also not even buy blindly, because rose on me unfortunately always develops a slight note of baby puke.

The fragrance description of synthetic powdery I would like to disagree. The fragrance does not smell powdery, but after the rose penetrance has evaporated, rather woody and a bit sticky. Likewise, I don't find the longevity and sillage to be above average, but average at best, which is a plus for me with this fragrance. Gaaaanz at the end, just before the perceptibility threshold, it smells by the way slightly gourmandig and gentle. But you smell then yes only if you inhale the sprayed skin quasi.

I feel him at the beginning also not as fresh, as the lemon or the bergamot promise, because already there the rose drowns everything. Unfortunately, it is also not a refined rose, but a "I-break-your-nose-rose", which gets the help of patchouli to it if necessary. Where the smell of coffee comes from here is beyond me, but even that can't save the perfume, although I really like coffee. I also suspect that benzoin and patchouli are doing the trick for me here, because the scent gets on my nerves very quickly. Something is just not right here.

Yes, the similarity to Intense Café by Montale is absolutely there, I've sprayed them both on and am amazed at how alike they smell, but differently annoying and differently refined. I would prefer Montale's, whose longevity is a lot longer. In addition, the even a little cheaper to buy than Rouge Privé. Here price-performance ratio namely do not agree.

Unexpected direct hit
Somehow I'm always looking for the perfect fragrance for me, although of course I already own some of them. Here are not only the fragrance notes and their balance auschlaggebend, but at least as much the effect that has the fragrance on me. More about that later.

Actually, I wanted to buy another fragrance in the souk, but at the vendor jumped me a few more fragrances in the eye. Since I like iris anyway very much and test me there a little by the assortment, so Iris of Le Galion also had to go. And what can I say: I have found a new holy grail (there is not only one). It simply has everything: freshness, powderiness, florality, astringency, cleanliness and elegance.

Unfortunately, it is rather close to the body, even if I would like to drown myself and my environment in the sillage. However, it creates something very intimate and cuddly because of the closeness to the body. I spray on the fragrance and feel happy and secure, it reminds me of my mother, who still smells like Rive Gauche, but memories swirl yes like times what.

I'm going to treat myself to a big bottle of the scent soon and preferably a backup, you never know. Currently, I wear it to sleep because it makes me so calm and content. I really don't want to miss it anymore, and I very very rarely have this effect with a perfume. And I ibn so infinitely glad that I discovered this fragrance so accidentally. So cheers to the Souk, otherwise this would never have happened.

By the way, if you like something fancy, this is not the right place for you, because the fragrance is very balanced, without big surprise moments. But understatement can be so perfect. Hach...

For the crevasse
A few years ago I drove up to the Kaunertal Glacier in summer. During this trip I first encountered green meadows with various mountain flowers and gnarled conifers, then the vegetation became more and more sparse and finally only rock, scree and ice and snow remained. Also, the air was eerily fresh and clear. Under Oud Glacial I had imagined such a high alpine scent journey - why not, with that name?

Therefore, I dared the blind purchase, the listed fragrance notes also promised no disaster. Especially on the mixture of almond, mint and oud I was curious. The existence of almond I would in any case flatly deny or the cold breath of mint has already flattened the necessary receptors in my fragrance center.

Anyway, at first there is nothing beautiful, pure, floral or even pleasing. Later, actually, also not, but there the fragrance is at least inconsequential.

Unfortunately, I have to once again use a GDR cleaner for comparison. This time it reminds me of the vapors of the linoleum floors in polyclinics, which were freshly treated with a disinfectant or in any case a chemical club. So there is something acrid about it that you have to overcome yourself to inhale at all. If you dare to smell it again a short time later, it reminds you of a freshly broken plant stalk that gives off something very green-herbaceous, but you feel like the plant is somehow poisonous and causes a rash if you touch it.

As the fragrance continues, it gives the impression that this plant stalk has been stored in Aunt Hilde's old handbag, where, in addition to her crochet-tipped handkerchief, there is also a bag of ice candies stuck together, so to speak, in the dregs.

When the worst has passed, that is, after an hour, it smells like the sun-tanned older gentleman who is still spry enough to consider himself athletic, but has obviously long since lost his former effervescence. Like this gentleman after sports, mind you: a little tart-woody, a little floppy, and like a cheap sports deodorant.

Any similarities to people still alive are purely coincidental and not meant to be derogatory.

The durability is ok, the sillage is thankfully not outstanding. The bottle (30 ml) is unimaginative or appropriate to the supposed clarity of the fragrance. The really cheap sticker on the bottle, on the other hand, is a joke.

I also definitely don't see the fragrance on a lady, certainly not on me. Therefore, you could safely dispose of him in a crevasse

Cemetery walk to go
The coincidence (yes, here on parfumo happens a lot by chance and as if you would consciously look for something like that...) led me here to the fragrances of Sixteen92. Even as an ex-goth I find cemetery scents very interesting and was here on the first sniff with momentum catapulted back to my youth to extended cemetery walks.

I dabbed on the scent and read the scent note limestone and still thought, "Such a Schmarrn, as if limestone would smell somehow" and at that moment unfolded in my brain an image of drizzle wet gravestones with some moss and ivy, surrounded by conifers. And just a tiny bit, it's also like strolling past the cemetery compost heap - it smells like wilted leaves and wreaths. So the opening is fresh, tart and green-woody without being pungent. And I have to say, I love that opening.

To my regret, everything that comes after doesn't draw me in like that. It becomes cozier, more warmly woody and also less idiosyncratic. But just that makes the fragrance absolutely wearable and pleasing. Durability and sillage could be better, but are appropriate for the fragrance and the effect.

Really depressing, however, I find that this fragrance comes from the limited Halloween Collection 2020, I have ordered only one filling and thus only very sparingly come into the pleasure of enveloping me with wet tombstone scent.
