"The "king of beasts" for the "leather of the leathers""
After what felt like endless days of rain and constant cloud cover, the sun finally managed to break through again today. Probably the perfect time to unleash the Iberian beast and the last fragrance from the Memo Paris Journey Book on myself, "Iberian Leather | Memo Paris"

The first impression is smoky leather in your face. As if the mighty cat of prey were to leap onto your neck and bite hard. You feel like Hercules, who wore the skin of the Nemean lion on his shoulders. While the leather in "African Leather (Eau de Parfum) | Memo Paris" was incorporated rather subliminally, in this case it is very expressive and potent - fitting for a lion. As the fragrance progresses, it softens a little and becomes less harsh and more spicy with floral undertones. I'm not at all surprised that 87% of the 55 users of the fragrance on Parfumo are male, despite its unisex categorization. What surprises me more is the rating of 6.9 points for the fragrance. Apparently, opinions differ greatly and the fragrance seems to be a matter of taste. The most frequent ratings are in the following ranges:
19x 6 points
40x 7 points
21x 8 points
14x 9 points
Even though I personally like the fragrance very much and would have expected a higher average rating, opinions seem to differ greatly. So rather not a blind buy candidate.

The performance does justice to a magnificent lion. You can simply rely on leather fragrances in this respect. Four sprays on my neck and I was able to smell it myself for a full 8 hours, majestically roaring, king of the beasts.

The bottle is one of the most beautiful I have ever seen. Memo is generally known for its artistic motifs, but this bottle stands out even more. "The "king of beasts" for the "leather of the leathers"" writes the manufacturer and I think it's a great statement. The lion was inspired by the Spanish coat of arms and symbolizes courage, nobility, royalty, strength, splendour and bravery. Aspects that the fragrance reflects with its impressive bottle and powerful DNA.

If you take a closer look at Memo Paris, you will quickly realize that the fragrances are not cheap. ~180 euros for 75ml is not a little, but considering the great fragrance DNA, the mega performance and the outstanding bottle, there is no criticism that speaks against the price.

In the battle of the big cats, the leopard surprisingly wins against the lion this time, because "African Leather (Eau de Parfum) | Memo Paris" remains my favorite Memo Paris fragrance. Nevertheless, "Iberian Leather | Memo Paris" is definitely worth a try and should be a complete success with men who like powerful and expressive leather fragrances.

A "little man" stands in the forest
A leathery little man in the forest, as absurd as this description may seem, it is fitting for this unique fragrance. "Irish Leather (Eau de Parfum) | Memo Paris" smells just as I would have expected "Green Irish Tweed | Creed" to smell at the time. But unlike the Creed creation, Memo's version is not an overpriced disappointment.

Green, earthy, boggy and a small dash of leather. This fragrance walks an extremely fine line when it comes to not being off-putting, but Memo masters this balancing act with flying colors. The manufacturer advertises the fragrance as "Gallop of the wind" and depicts a white horse galloping through the wide, wet pastures of Ireland towards the horizon on a cool morning. For my taste, a very fitting illustration for the fragrance. I appreciate the bold uniqueness and strength of character of the fragrance, but I have the feeling that it is more of a men's fragrance despite its unisex categorization. My gut feeling or nose feeling is confirmed by the Parfumo community: Of the 322 users of the fragrance on Parfumo, a full 75 percent are male.

As befits a good leather fragrance, the performance is by no means disappointing. I was able to smell the fragrance myself for a full eight hours with four sprays on my neck. The galloping horse has a lot of stamina.

The bottles are one of the best things about Memo fragrances. This bottle is also a success, but I think the drawing of the white horse in the meadow in front of the Irish castle, which you can find on the Memo website, is more fitting than the bottle design. Even if it is very artistic, this horse confusion seems like a kind of preliminary stage of a brilliant artist on the verge of madness.

The price may be high at 160 euros for 75 ml, but you also get a unique fragrance with great performance. However, I would actually advise against a blind buy for this amount of money, as not everyone will probably like the fragrance due to its special composition.

If your nose gets along with "Encre Noire (Eau de Toilette) | Lalique", you will probably also like "Irish Leather (Eau de Parfum) | Memo Paris", so I can recommend this fragrance to men in particular. For women, I would rather recommend "French Leather (Eau de Parfum) | Memo Paris". However, my personal Memo favorite still remains "African Leather (Eau de Parfum) | Memo Paris".

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly
I've already cracked my fingers and was ready to verbally bash a bad designer fragrance again, until I saw that the Parfumo community had already beaten me to it. An average rating of 5.6 - ouch! - only "Wanted Tonic | Azzaro" is actually rated worse. The Wanted range is actually very popular and while the likes of "The Most Wanted Parfum | Azzaro" can be described as "The Good", "Wanted (Eau de Parfum) | Azzaro" would be "The Bad" or worse, "The Ugly".

The start is actually quite promising, because it starts with a spicy freshness that I would definitely describe as successful. Unfortunately, the fragrance doesn't follow on from the opening and falls into designer madness as it progresses. It becomes increasingly "berry" in a strange way. The fragrance starts to become unpleasant. The whole thing is crowned with an unnecessary portion of synthetic sludge at the end.

The performance is better than the fragrance DNA, but with a self-perception of four hours with four sprays on the neck, it can't knock my socks off either.

The bottle with its chrome design and golden accents is quite handsome, but is just on the edge when it comes to not looking too antisocial.

In terms of price, I have already seen 100ml on the internet for around 62 euros. That's not much, but you don't get much for it either. So it's better to spend the money on useful things, such as: "The Most Wanted Parfum | Azzaro"

The only thing that "Wanted (Eau de Parfum) | Azzaro" and "The Most Wanted Parfum | Azzaro" have in common is the fact that only three ingredients are listed for both fragrances. In all other areas, their big brother plays in a completely different league.

A gift from the angels
"Lalibela" was inspired by the Christian town of the same name in Ethiopia, which is located at an altitude of 2,500 meters and is said to be full of myths and secrets. The slogan "A mystical rose" refers to the twelve rock churches which, according to legend, were built in a single night in the 12th century by angels who descended from heaven. Memo Paris tries to express this mystical moment with a rose that takes on different facets in its individual phases.

The rose takes center stage, but it is joined at the beginning by a sweetness that is very unobtrusive and pleasant. No chewing gum sweetness, no synthetic sweetness, but very harmonious, floral. As the fragrance progresses, it becomes increasingly creamy and even though I was a little skeptical beforehand given the list of ingredients, incense and tobacco have been worked into the rose garden extremely well. The fragrance is extremely well balanced and harmonious across all phases. No ingredient stands out unpleasantly, everything is coordinated. Perfume art at a high level, as I would have expected from Memo Paris.
I personally find the fragrance very feminine, even though it is declared as a unisex fragrance. That doesn't mean that I felt uncomfortable with the fragrance, not at all, but I personally believe that a woman can simply wear the fragrance better than me, an old bald guy. My feelings are confirmed by the Parfumo community. Of the 186 users of the fragrance on Parfumo, a whopping 92 percent are female. But even if the fragrance doesn't suit my taste, I have to admit that this is a beautiful interpretation of a rose fragrance.

The durability has taken an example from the industrious church-building angels. The angels build 12 churches in one night and "Lalibela (Eau de Parfum) | Memo Paris" lasts (almost) all night. I was able to smell four sprays on my neck for about six hours myself.

The Memo bottle is always a feast for the eyes. Perhaps the rock churches could have been incorporated, but the bottle is nonetheless impressive.

The price is high, no question, but for ~200 euros you get a beautiful fragrance DNA and bottle, with good performance. The fragrance offers little criticism.

For women, I would strongly recommend "Lalibela (Eau de Parfum) | Memo Paris", especially if you are a fan of floral rose fragrances anyway. For men, I would recommend "African Leather (Eau de Parfum) | Memo Paris".

Acqua di No
After testing "Acqua di Giò Profondo (2020) (Eau de Parfum) | Giorgio Armani" some time ago, which didn't go down particularly well with me, my expectations for the new edition of "Acqua di Giò Profondo Parfum | Giorgio Armani" were not particularly high. And rightly so, because instead of immersing myself in a beautiful ocean, I fell into the toilet with this fragrance (fortunately free of charge, thanks to the sample).

The problem is the same as with many other designer fragrances. Synthetics and unkindness dominate the business and I wonder what the point of such a new release is if you don't dare to try anything new. In a previous statement, I picked up the expression "superfluous flanker" from a previous speaker and that pretty much sums it up. While "Acqua di Giò Profumo (Parfum) | Giorgio Armani" delights people and even remains in the top ten men's fragrances (because it combines freshness and spice in an unconventional way instead of being citrus-fresh), "Acqua di Giò Profondo Parfum | Giorgio Armani" can only dream of being in the top 100.

To summarize the fragrance experience in a nutshell: Initially alcoholic, citric freshness and later on 0815 synthetic sludge underlaid with floral notes. I don't want to waste any more words on such a boring fragrance, so I'll keep it short.

The performance is also rather weak for a "perfume". Although the fragrance lasts about four hours with four sprays in the self-perception, good eau de toilette and mediocre eau de parfum fragrances also manage this.

The bottle is probably the best thing about the whole fragrance and suits a maritime scent. It's just a shame that the contents are not in the same league.

The price is definitely too high for this fragrance DNA. you can't get 100ml for less than 100 euros. The money can be better invested.

I can only advise against buying it, because even in-house there are better alternatives such as "Acqua di Giò Profumo (Parfum) | Giorgio Armani" and if you look at other manufacturers, the list of better alternatives becomes all the longer, such as "Oud Minérale | Tom Ford".
